The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria, MUSWEN, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marginalised them in the region, especially, in the area of federal appointments.

MUSWEN made the claims in a statement issued to newsmen to assess the two years of Tinubu’s administration, on Tuesday.

The statement signed by the duo of Rasaki Oladejo, President and Professor Muslih Tayo Yahaya , Executive Secretary/CEO, alleged that South West Muslims are marginalised in federal government appointments under the current administration.

The duo in the statement noted that Tinubu has recorded many achievements in two years but Yoruba Muslims were not part of the scheme of things.

The umbrella Islamic body in Yoruba land, claimed they were denied federal appointments under the current administration.

The duo in the statement titled “Two years in office: MUSWEN commends Tinubu’s achievements, asks him to address marginalisation of South West Muslims in federal appointments,” lamented that the representation of South West Muslims in key federal positions does not reflect the region’s demographic and intellectual weight.

They added that the representation does not align with the principles of fairness, equity, and inclusivity enshrined in constitution.

They urged Tinubu to take deliberate steps to address the imbalances, saying, “Over the past two years, the administration has made notable strides in various sectors, including economic reforms, infrastructural development, and efforts to address national security challenges.

“However, MUSWEN wishes to draw the attention of His Excellency to a pressing concern regarding the marginalisation of South West Muslims in federal appointments.

“Regrettably, the representation of South West Muslims in key federal positions does not reflect the region’s demographic and intellectual weight, nor does it align with the principles of fairness, equity, and inclusivity enshrined in Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which mandates balanced representation across regions and groups”.

They don't have more intellectual and educated specialized skilled people compare to their christians counter parts who own almost many best universities and human resources. Sound state governor in the past pointed out same fact, there is no way it will not happen if you weigh competence above sentiment

HOW MANY JOBS CAN A FEDERAL APPOINTMENT CREATE?

I mean, I had a relative who had gotten a federal appointment. Not something high, but he was at the point where he was a step below the minister of his ministry, and headed a unit.

Anytime it was job appointment season, the guy had Federal character commission(for those of you who think that parastatal is for show...they are VERY ACTIVE) looking over his shoulder like some evil KGB spy. He had to make sure the applicants ....not even appointees...were spread around the states of the federation, and if FCC did not think it was well spread...well, he better take measures to rectify it. I doubt that he was able to appoint a lot of people from our state...talkless of village.(Though he was well disposed to appointing people of his religion, regardless of tribe...lol).

This is why we need to go back to regional system of government, cos this current system can never satisfy everyone, every tribe ,ethnic group and religion can cry marginalisation, just wait for the traditional worshippers to hold their own press conference to cry marginalisation.

Competence over religion sentiments

Seriously Tinubu is one of the best president Nigeria ever had in term of religion tolerance and no-religion bigotry equation format and balance of appointment.

This is another reason I'm his supporter and I told those sorrowful human then that Tinubu is not and never a religion bigot he is only interested in your ability and performance not your tribe or religion unlike other leaders.
