Odu is a former SUG President of the Institution & Ndifon National Provost of the alumni chapter of the Institution

Two University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) lecturers in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Engr. Emmanuel Odu and Engr. Ndifon Vincent have been declared missing.

The duo were reportedly missing on Friday, May 23, 2025 in Imo State while on their way back to Calabar from Lagos where they embarked on car purchase.

According to a statement made in a circular number 478, issued and signed by the school Registrar, Victor Ephriam Ene, reveals that “the Acting Vice Chancellor and members of the University’s Management team have been in constant communication on the missing Lecturers with the Cross River State Commissioner of Police and the Cross River State Director of Department of State Security (DSS) and have been informed that the Commissioner of Police and the Director of Department of State Security are working closely with their counterparts in Imo State to find the missing Lecturers.”

Regretting the unexplainable incident, the management empathize with both families and friends of the missing lecturers, calling on members of the public with useful information on their whereabouts to urgently contact relevant security agencies or the phone number in this flier.

The circular noted that the University community is anxiously praying and hoping for their safety and quick release.

Just curious, what is it with the title. Yes, they are engineers but can't they go by Mr. or Dr. if they hold a doctorate degree? Why are they addressed as Engineer?

The fact that they got missing when they reached Imo St on their way from Lagos is very alarming. Security situation in Imo State is frightening in recent times. Just last week, an America returnee was shot dead in Owerri and his wife kidnapped. I pray for their safe return.

They've probably been kidnapped. A friend escaped kidnapping in Imo state while travelling to Port-Harcourt around same time.

Lets hope the car has likely been robbed by customs and They most likely have been arrested. In 2020, Na so customs seize my guy car for Benin bypass not far from orhe. He checked all the customs offices in that zone made written report, they denied it and No result. He reported to all police stations in that zone. No way. Only for him to be called by one police station last year December, that the car having the same chassis has been found and was sold by 2 customs officers and another set of new papers made by them. Engineers are professionals. Engr, Dr, Barr., Etc.

Only teachers are exempt from carrying their professional prefixes. I guess because their reward is usually in heaven.
