Problem is, a place like Nigeria copies everything from them except egalitarian things.
We copied their powerful presidency without having any of the things in place that keep the president in check and humble.
In law, we still keep the English ridiculous cap and gown in hot Nigeria, and "my lord", etc. In politics, "right honorable", etc
