Like now, tinubu is a representation of the wickedness exhibited by doctors in Nigeria who decide they want to earn reasonable wages or medical personnel in Nigeria who go above and beyond to ensure the lives of people are saved.

Our soldiers who are barely paid but still go and fight insurgency because of the wickedness in their heart.

All through all segments and levels of public service in Nigeria people have been perpetrating wicked and corrupt practices on their fellow men for years.

From the gateman that will not allow people to enter to submit job applications if they don’t sort him out first, to the university lecturers coercing their students to pay in cash or kind in order to avoid unjustified failure, to the hospital CMD who is embezzling funds meant for the Neonatal ICU in order to send his own son abroad for Masters, to the hundreds of Perm Secs, DGs, and other lower level career civil servants who somehow can afford houses in Lekki, Maitama, London, and Dubai.

The hospital MD who converted the brand new ambulance bought by the state government into his personal vehicle and was using it to carry his mistress to different hotels for them to kpansh, while critically ill patients were being transferred out of the hospital with Keke Marwa. That one too will become Commissioner of Health one day and people will be asking why our leaders are wicked.

Saying the average Nigerian is wicked is probably half the story, the average Nigerian is quite stupid too.

Our leaders didn't crawl from hell to occupy political office, they were drawn from the general population, and some of them are persons we've known in one capacity or the other before they became they politicans we now know, and I'm sure they too pointed fingers at the leadership class when they were yet to attain power.

The only solution to the mess is to ensure the very best of us (in character and/or competence) occupy these positions, cause anything that's drawn from the average Nigerian would most likely be a toxic mess of wickedness and helpless stupidity.

It doesn't help too that what constitues the "average Nigerian" has over the years reduced in quality...we're in the worst era of what is the average Nigerian.

See how the average poor person treat another poor person then imagine when they get into power

Just now we dey see drivers without state power following one way and damning whatever happens and the risk to people even those criticizing govt daily like Oseni Rufai

Imagine when those people become governors

Until we have a critical mass of citizens who are genuinely good people nothing will change

How many percentage people who you know their personal lives and you think if this one get power we don enter wahala?

Look at people with small level of power how they do,

Almost all the governors today were nobodies in 1999
All these people one day will become president

I will say if every current politician today dies and we replace all in another 25yrs the new set will be the same as this or even worse

I have one personal experience. A girl poor family member brought from village to Lagos to one aunty after a while she was getting maltreated, the aunty refused her to even go higher institution because her premise will be that who will care for her when she allows the girl go higher institution, we the younger ones gathered fought the aunty liberated her and gave her money to stand on her own

Now she sef don grow don get househelps and she is treating her own helps as bad as she was treated

I got report that she locked one of her helps outside the gate from 9am to 6pm

The same person who years ago was complaining about oppression is now the oppressor

I always say something

100yrs ago Americans English people etc who never stepped foot into Africa are donating money sending to build schools hospitals in Africa. Most of our parents generation attended schools built from donation of people who didnt know if Africa exists

Fast forward today now we have those religion, what are our own Pastors doing? How many of our giant churches have built affordable schools and hospitals in their own community where they grew up or where they are operating?
If every church that has a 100 man congregation can build a clinic or free school, we would have gotten somewhere in this country but we are doing a competition of biggest building, most private jets etc

Just yesterday we saw one of them flashing what looks like a gun to a man taking his video

Now think if that becomes a governor with full state powers what do you think will happen

South Africans are not perfect but you will agree they are not as "sharp" as us. Which is why we can take advantage of them and they resort to violence

If a company dey get 100m a South African will likely steal 30m and say he Don wreck the company

Guess how much the Nigerian will steal from the 100m?

True sha, saying the best of us wins elective positions is fantasy, even the best of those competing winning regularly is realistically not possible.

However, I think there could be ways to create systems that ensure there's a baseline minimum expected from those competing for these offices, through a mix of legislature and orientation of the voting populace on what to expect from persons contesting for elective positions. There is a baseline minimum, but I think it's focused on the wrong things.

The odds of things turning a corner with the current crop of Nigerian's and its leaders is slim, doesn't mean it's impossible. Nigeria is very much a top-down leadership type country, and if somehow the sort of person(s) interested in fixing things finds their way there, things would improve, regardless of the overall moral and intellectual quality of the average Nigerian during that period of time.

If we're waiting for an average mass of Nigerian's to get to a certain intellectual and moral treshold before things start to improve, I doubt we'd ever get that change.

I don't think it's this improbable, things were much better, and for a large mass of Nigerians in the PDP years and this is recent history.

Including me, many of us have been polluted that we wont know. We will leave overhead bridge and be running 100m across the road, I used to do it too

I wont have a problem asking a uncle to use leg for me to enter a position I fall short of even if a more qualified izzou should take it and if he doesn't, I think he is a bad person from a queue at the airport to civil service position

I was working on a project in Nigeria using a Nigerian project manager. I insisted on everyone must be paid by last day of the month, if it falls on a weekend pay them before the weekend. My project manager kept saying it's not how you deal with Nigerians we have our own ways
And some of the workers had to report to me

When I worked in corporate in Nigeria, many of our seniors and managers actually derived pleasure in being the wicked manager. A manager will enter work at 6pm and say he wants to start reviewing your work at 7pm knowing the associate a female has to take commercial bus home.
Some of the good ones will even look away while the wicked ones are doing their wickedness maybe use their wicked ones to do their agenda they can't do openly
