Has Nigerians Stopped Relocating Abroad? by irumole1975(op): 10:38pm On Jun 07, 2025
Hmm. Not only has it been long we saw different variations of Japa stuffs here but also been a while we saw debates about how Nigerians abroad make $1M every seconds by merely working with a student visa.

Been a while we see “OMG I don’t get these things a billionaire banker in Nigeria who own first bank just relocated to the UK and he’s now making millions of dollars he can never make by working as a manager in Nigeria” “OMG I don’t understand these things my neighbor just sold his 200m business and relocate to Canada for better life” “ it’s for the kids”

What changed? Is it that Nigerians have stopped relocating or people don’t loud it anymore?

Why relocate to the same people who are exploiting your country's resources to enrich theirs when you should be focusing on how to put an end to it and untilise your resources for your own country's benefit?

Who's gonna save Nigeria if all of you relocate?

US, Uk & Canada are tightening & always coming up with different policies to make it difficult to relocate. Even with your millions sometimes, it is difficult to secure a visa.

Oh you want people to inform you first before travelling grin grin.

Go to embassies or visa centres and do video, then come back and delete this rubbish you call post.

No. People still dey japa or real o
Re: Has Nigerians Stopped Relocating Abroad? by laivwire(m): 7:32pm On Jun 08, 2025
The primary reason is the major channels of japa have closed or become too restricted. Poor forex has also added an additional barrier.

Tuition fees are so high, you can't bring your family as a student anymore and skilled migration faces very tight global competition for selection.

But if you still have the chance and means, please japa o. It's when you travel you realise the opportunity to truly live free.

Nigeria is not built to support the average person to financial success.

A lot of people are still actively japaing, you're just not in the know.

Exchange rate has gone up, anti immigration policies on the rise in many countries Nigerians typically go. ( usa, canada, UK, Germany, UAE, china, Cyprus, Spain, south Africa etc)

Trying to be defensive isn't going to help with anything... Why can't you guys be better than us by fighting for what is rightfully yours rather than running away? Aren't you supposed to be the giants of Africa and leading Nigeria by example in order for us to follow? Your country should be competing with those same countries you guys are running to right now because it was with the help of your country's resources that those countries are where they are today.

We in SA recently just got our democracy 31 years ago, so we still have a long way to go and still taking baby steps... But we can't say the same thing with you guys, it's been 65 years... You can't try to compare a country that has been free just 31 years ago to the one that has been independent for the past 65 years, it's impossible.

giant of Africa refers to population not some superior technology or economy. The same way you are telling us to fight ( some people fought during end sars and have been forgotten) you too should go and fight the white men controlling your resources in SA. If you wont do that then keep your opinions to yourself

Nigerians abroad are contributing to the economy of Nigeria with remittances. Your country cant be on such lists. They would rather stay in soweto crying all day 😂

Re: Has Nigerians Stopped Relocating Abroad? by Samantha125(f): 2:51pm On Jun 09, 2025
Like I said, we just recently got our democracy and still working on reclaiming what is rightfully ours... But you guys are 65 years old and 34 years older than us, you should be at the top instead of running away to tbe same people who are still exploiting you even today ... Who's gonna develop your country if you keep running away? And at least those white South Africans are utilising SA's resources for the benefit of SA and not another country in Europe or America.

And have you actually seen the derogatory things those Europeans say about you guys on social media?

SA still has a long way to go and we're not running to any country... And whose fault is it that those end SARS people are forgotten? Is it not yours?
