A senior officer identified as Lieutenant Commodore M Buba has been stabbed to death in Kaduna.

The attack occurred after the hoodlum attempted to rob the senior officer of his mobile phone and other valuables at the Kawo bridge.

According to eyewitnesses, the senior officer who was on course at the Armed Forces and Command Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji had a flat tire while on his way returning to Jaji.

“He alighted from his car trying to change the flat tyre, when the unknown assailant suddenly appeared and demanded him to handover his GSM phone. The senior officer refused questioning the rationale when the assailant suddenly stabbed him on the chest with a local knife.”


Suleiman Dahiru, a local vigilante, who witnessed the altercation attempted to help the senior officer but was also stabbed on the hand by the assailant too.

Our correspondent gathered that the assailant was subsequently overpowered and mobbed by nearby people who also killed him on the spot.

A senior military officer who did not want to he mentioned said, “The wounded senior officer was initially rushed to Manaal Hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

“The corpse of the deceased was subsequently evacuated to 44 Nigerian Army Referee Hospital, Kaduna mortuary for further action.

“Troops in plain clothes, police and other civil security agencies have been mobilised and tasked on covert operations to identify and clear all miscreants loitering around bus stops and other black spots in Kaduna Metropolis.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan confirmed the incident and described it as ‘unfortunate’.

He, however, assured that the police were doing everything possible to secure the area and the state at large.

This usually happens after the fact.
So someone would just come to you abd demand you handover your phone and you would just hand it over,without him pointing a gun at you?
Even with gun pointed,a military officer of that rank can and should believe he can overpower any assailant.
So let's not start acting righteous or holy here like the man acted f oolishly.
Lots of men would have acted same way he did,even when it's a knife and it's just one person trying to dispose you of a valuable possession.

I have always maintained that those northern criminal miscreants are the most dangerous of the lot. Best NEVER to encounter them. They kill without batting an eyelid especially because they are ALWAYS high on hard drugs. I'm speaking from a bitter experience by the way.
