the father of the Awori Ogunfunminire
Who gave Lagos Island to his son Aromire was an Ife Prince

Benin itself was founded by an Obatala dynasty Ife Prince called Obagodo

They don't have a single local government to themselves.
They're part of the local govt.

Reno finally accepting the inevitability of Anioma state.

Itshekiri are Yorubas? lol shouldn't you convince native Lagosians first before jumping over Edo to claim itshekiri?

Itshekiri are nervous over sharing a state with urhobo and ijaw with the imminent departure of Aniomas. Hence, the sudden friendship.
Re: Itsekiri And Olukumi Form Alliance, Share History, Celebrate Exchange (Pics) by Tonitoniton(m): 11:23am On Jun 09, 2025
Itshekiri are not Yoruba in any way. Itshekiris are bini and not Yoruba

Just as anioma or delta north are not ibo.

Most of the coastal dwellers in Yoruba land are either ijaws or binis that migrated along time ago.

Sharing cultural relics or what ever does not make them Yoruba.

The same olu shared some thing of that nature with Zulu in south Africa, does it now mean itshekiris are Zulus?

Where in Anioma land is an urhobo an indigene and is Agbor a tribe?

Social media has done well to expose illness beyond medical diagnosis.
Social media has lied to you that Anioma is Igbo. Go to Anioma communities in Delta and cure your ignorance, stop arguing with me.

grin those Yoruba sub groups are not denying their Yoruba roots, onlike the ikwerre who have consistently rejected being ibo grin

The Yorubas are proud people and proud of their culture and heritage and they don’t need to force anyone or sub groups who don’t want to identify with them, that’s the difference grin
You didn't answer my question
What has accepting or denying roots got to do with the "root itself?
Still tell me how Emeka from delta state isn't igbo while Isinyemeze (that even sound more igbo than yoruba) is yoruba?

The Olukumi shit can’t work, they are already acculturated by their Igbo neigbours and remember their land is not contigous to Yoruba land, except Yoruba will move them from their ancestral land and near to Yorubaland
That's how people misbehave as a result of Igbo benevolence. They migrated from Owo and were accomodated by Aniocha people with full citizenship rights and autonomy of existence. Hopefully they will not now claim the autochthonous Aniocha people are migrants.

Igbos have 9 local government in Delta state and all of them are Igbo names. They are the tribe with the highest local governments in Delta state.

Though I am Igbo,I haven’t been to Abakiliki or Enugu all my life,I still maintain you haven’t been anywhere near Anioma, forget social media noises, they are the proudest Igbo, remember when you yorubas were hating on Giannis Antetokumbo mum when he said his mother wouldn’t let him learn Yoruba language but Igbo language and he came to Lagos to open an Igbo learning school, guess where his mum is from

Ubuluku,Delta State

Still does answer why majority of ikwerre names have igbo meaning. If we go by your logic, in 30yrs time, there will be thousands of yorubas whose name and surname are Igbo names?

Mind you am not very interested in whether anyone is igbo or not. It doesn't in anyway affect my life. I am targeting hypocritic souls here on NL. They are angry when ikwerre man was made head of ohaneze group but are celebrating because two groups had a friendly outing

Reno is Itsekiri. He just calls Yorubas Olukumi as that's what they call them in the Delta area. In Benin Republic, they are called Anago.
In Togo, they are called Ife Ana.
In Sierra Leone/Gambia, they call them Aku people.
Nobody calls them aku people or ife ana, that is impersonation of igbos.

Igbos, this is a clear example of what happens when you let others write your history.
Igbos were the highest number of displaced people when the spanish, portugese, and later in 1600s, england and france.. But the igbos also faced the germans and Dutch.

Just look at how some people have tried to turn history, On top of that, this is a very good example of how others will use brainwash and intimidation to flip a scattered tribe.

in the 1800s, when British set up sierra Leone, igbos were amongst the populace, and also a lot from the freed slave, because by this time, Britain was focused on colonization of the continent, and not just taking slaves to help them build.

like I said, direct your grievance to the ikwerres, they will be in a better position to explain that to you, but we know they don’t want to be identified as ibo and they have the right to their choice.

Benin is still yoruba too.

Back to your question, itsekiri carved out from yoruba. They are a minor yoruba group.

Urhobo, edo, itsekiri and yoruba all have the same pedigree or ancestry!
