Igbo has 5, they're a minority in Delta. You can't tell me about a place I know.
I know you can't trace your lineage and I can understand your angst and frustration.

But let me begin your radical therapy

Yorubas are not Olukunmi because 'that's what they call them in Delta'.

As a word, Olukunmi has been part of the Yoruba lexicon from time immemorial.

It means My Friend.

In places like Owo, and I think may be Okitipupa, in Ondo State and a few other places, till today, you refer to your friend as Olukunmi. People from these places don't instinctively use 'ore' as those from Oyo, Lagos, Ekiti etc do.

It is no coincidence that the Itshekiri and the Olukumi's migration from Yoruba land originated from or passed through Owo.
Oluku means friend in Ijebu dialect. Olukumi means my friend in Yoruba but that word is common among Ijebu, Owo, Ondo and Okitipupa dialects.

Kudos to my tribe itsekiri. Sadly I grew up at benin
E no matter bro. There's nothing to be sad about here.

There's a street in Ifo LG, Ajuwon precisely, street is named Itsekiri Street because of the concentration of the Itsekiri people therein.

I'm from Ajara Vetho, Badagry and I've stayed up north for a big part of my life. Aside from the Fon drivers that I've come across over here I haven't met up to 5 Badagrian up north.

Olukumi
Lukumi Yoruba.
Is that not Reno Omockery's family?
What is the meaning of OMOKRI in Itsekiri ? - no meaning

What is the meaning of OMOKRI in Urhobo ? SMALL GOAT grin grin grin

How can Reno be a member of a tribe (Itsekiri) when his father's name has no meaning in that tribe, but another tribe (Urhobo) ? huh

In conclusion, with all strict sense of logic, Reno is Urhobo, NOT Itsekiri cool

Embassy in Abeokuta use it but written and pronounced as -OLUKUMI- . But the correct spelling and pronunciation is 'OLUKUNMI'. Contextual breakdown : OLU - a lord or important pwexonality , KUN -

Olukumi is pristine Yoruba from Ilé-Ifè the Source. Friends are called Oluku in Ife till today. Olukumi means my friend. So they migrated directly from Ife

The Ogiame/Olu, the aristocracy and top chiefs are Benin people. A large population of Itsekiri are Eastern Yoruba, some Edo and neighbouring tribes.
Correct. But the Ọba and ruling house of Bini are Yorubas directly from Oranmiyan, a true son of Ogun, and step grandson of Odùduwà.

The Ijebus ruling house are also directly of Odùduwà blood but not all Ijebus

Itshekiri are not Yoruba in any way. Itshekiris are bini and not Yoruba

Just as anioma or delta north are not ibo.

Most of the coastal dwellers in Yoruba land are either ijaws or binis that migrated along time ago.

Sharing cultural relics or what ever does not make them Yoruba.

The same olu shared some thing of that nature with Zulu in south Africa, does it now mean itshekiris are Zulus?
And pls tell us who Binis are?
Not Edos that Yoruba call Ados but Binis

In Togo, they are called Ife Ana.
In Sierra Leone/Gambia, they call them Aku people.
Highly amorphous.

Don't really like doing this but let me ask
Isinyemeze and atuwatse from delta are from yoruba groups
But ifeanyi from delta and amaechi from rivers are not from Igbo groups.

Hope you can help me explain better though
I said it in the thread that was talking about Amaechi denouncing his Igbo heritage that every Emeka,Uchenna,Infeayi,Ngozi,Adaeze in Delta state and Rivers state is an Igbo person.

Also, any Adeyemi, Balogun,Oluwakemi,Fumilayo,Tunde, Adebayo from Delta,Kwara and or Kogi is a Yoruba person.
If the person doesn't like it that way,she or he should first of all change and deny such name before denying his larger tribe.

You cannot bear such typical traditional names of people as I mentioned above and be arguing about your ethnicity.
To me,it does not always make any sense to me at all.
Name and language is an important symbol of ethnic identity.

No

Unless you want to claim that Benin itself has Ile Ife Origins but
the father of the Awori Ogunfunminire
Who gave Lagos Island to his son Aromire was an Ife Prince

Benin itself was founded by an Obatala dynasty Ife Prince called Obagodo
stop this nonsense, I hate seeing this, how can ife give Benin a dynasty at a time when ife didn't have a dynasty, how can you give Benin monarchy when you didn't even have a leader let alone a monarchy, don't you find it interesting that till this day, the ooni title is being rotated as there is no direct bloodline, can you compare that to the oba of Benin title.

Benin is still yoruba too.

Back to your question, itsekiri carved out from yoruba. They are a minor yoruba group.

Urhobo, edo, itsekiri and yoruba all have the same pedigree or ancestry!
not true stop lying pls, Benin isn't yoruba
