Just to clarify based on the questions I’ve seen:

✅ The permit is tied to the specific car, not your name.
✅ Factory-tinted or not, the fee is the same.
✅ Biometrics is usually required — but not everyone wants to go to Alagbon, especially if the car is not in their name.
✅ And yes, if you have 5 cars, you go through the process 5 times. 😂

From what I’ve seen, it can take anywhere between 1 to 3 working days for the system to trigger the SMS or email for capture — especially if you're applying directly through the portal.

But here’s the thing: even when it's still showing “Pending,” you can print out your application slip or save a screenshot — that’s what I advise anyone driving a tinted car to carry with them for now, just in case you get stopped.

Also, if after 3–4 working days nothing comes up, it might mean the system didn’t schedule it properly — and that’s where a lot of people get stuck. There are ways to sort it, but it depends on the exact issue.

To avoid any delay or rejection, I strongly suggest using a properly structured and recent medical report.

I honestly didn’t expect this post to get this much attention, but wow... Over 7,000 people have viewed it in less than two days. That tells me one thing — many Nigerians are seriously looking for correct info on how to legally process the tinted glass permit without wahala.

Now, based on the questions I’ve received (over 50+ messages and counting), I want to clear a few things for everyone following:

✔️ Yes — the Police Tinted Permit is still active and free to apply for online.
✔️ Yes — you can apply yourself, but there are some technical steps that usually confuse people (especially the medical report part, document upload, and appointment issues).
✔️ No — you don't need a “connection” if you follow the proper process, but you do need to be careful not to make mistakes that delay approval or trigger rejection.

What to prepare before applying
• Your NIN
• Car particulars (valid and matching)
• A medical or security-related reason for needing tint — especially in Lagos
• A scan of your driver’s license
• Your medical report (not just anything written, a proper one o)

Once you gather these, you can start the process from the police portal. If done right, you’ll get your Application Code and move through the approval stages. Some people even get the full permit within 3 to 7 working days.
