Sheuns:And so what? Does it matter whether it's govt orr private? What's important is availability. Do you think govt is solely responsible for electricity in countries that are self sufficient in electricity? Even US electricity is not solely funded by govt. What was hitherto lacking in Nigeria power was a framework to attract foreign investment in the sector but if that is changing then commendation will still go to Tinubu. Whichever way you look at it Tinubu is an achiever and a pacesetter. |

Brendaniel:The headline is not deceptive. You just don't understand the article and specific concept it is focusing on. In a nutshell AFC (Africa Finance Corporation) is worried power supply may not be more adequate between now and the near future if Nigeria is dependent on central grid power supply perhaps suffering under-investment. Well, any smart Nigerian will know what we are doing in Nigeria supercedes the worry of AFC which appears an afterthought. This is because Nigeria has fully deregulated her power sector to address the precise worry of the AFC. I.e national dependance on an inadequate central power grid that has become near moribund because of decades of under-investment and upscaling improvement. The situation today is that, while the FG will continue to invest in boosting the capacity of our central power grid, States now have the capacity to mirror captive and embedded power supply such as used to power industrial complexes. Read the examples from my thread below to note that Lagos is running with that concept already. If proactive uptake from States is good as Lagos is showing, especially in cost-effective PPP arrangement, then AFC worries is insigificant in the case of Nigeria in my opinion. https://www.nairaland.com/8432581/finnish-firm-bags-deal-build |

Image123:Mugu What are you running? People are installing solar and using gas powered generators e.g. I better pass my neighbour all over the country Or are you saying it's only in Lagos you have solar power or gas powered gens? You guys are a bunch of deluded illiterates zombies |

DarkJeddi:Who says I didn’t get it? Is Lagos too boast its own off grip power supply system? You all acting smart but, you aren't really |

DarkJeddi:JaskanFactor is right. Oyinbo is the one that indirectly rules their former colonies and chooses presidents for the former colonies and since oyinbo has been anti-black for hundreds of years these presidents must also support oyinbo owned companies and pass policies that favor oyinbo owned companies. If Nigeria had 24 hours electricity then Nigerians will have built Nigerian owned companies that will make foreign owned companies irrelevant and not needed thereby making Nigeria a truly independent country. But it does not have to be the whole Nigeria that has 24 hour power for Nigeria to start booming that's this news has singled out Lagos.... So if you start seeing protests, civil unrests and t:e:r:ror attacks in Lagos just know it is sponsored by the oyinbo you are protecting unless you are agent and you already work for them. |

ALISMILE:Don't mind some ITK who only know to rush and criticise good news or even other forumers perhaps because doom and gloom is what they want to read and hear. Your first post about Lagos existing the national grid is correct and valid. IIt shows you understand the article. Indeed, what is shown below from a thread I started confirms it is only a question of time before Lagos exit the national grid as State can now use 100% of power they generated for their own use since they no longer have to 'share' with the national grid as was the case before full deregulation of the power sector. That is a key concept the worries of AFC does not take account of. I.e fact that full deregulation is meant to ensure less Nigerians are vulnerable to poor power supply because of National grid inadequacy. States are supposed to now take the burden of the national grid as Lagos is leading doing below with captive and embedded power supply. https://www.nairaland.com/8432581/finnish-firm-bags-deal-build |

anonimi:Mister Doom and gloom himself. Do you even understand the article before you started mouthing off with your usual and predictable doom and gloom messages? Go and see what Lagos is doing with embedded power supply below. By the time the entire Lagos Island, up to Epe, then has 24/7 power supply you'll still be online seeking negative news to satisfy your unquenchable craving for sadism against those you hate like Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu and whoever is Governor by the time Lagos Island has 24/7 power supply and moving on to the mainland. https://www.nairaland.com/8432581/finnish-firm-bags-deal-build |
