World Bank offers Nigeria forex rate advice, as Tinubu eyes N200/Dollar rate

April 23, 2023

The President-elect said he would work with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to *bring down the exchange rate to N200 in his first term.*

“My administration will collaborate with the Central Bank to harmonize the fiscal and monetary policy to achieve immediate stabilization of the value of the naira against the US dollars and other currencies and in the short term, strengthen the naira by boosting the supply of foreign currency and moderating demand.

“The short-term goal is to achieve a naira/dollar rate of 300 naira/US$ and gradually achieve a less than 200 naira rate over the next four years, Tinubu stated.

Na you no go school. So we should continue to artificially defend the naira as past governments has done with nothing to show for it. Or is Nigeria the first to do so? Please, use your brain.
Yo, una go just dey parrot empty talking points wey this propaganda ridden government drum into una skull. You get brain, you are capable of rational thinking so think for yourself. Every country has something it does for its citizens with the resources the country has. Defending the Naira was worth every penny spent on it because it improved our purchasing power. A car that sold 3m few years ago don increase by over 200%. Same goes for every single item wey we need for daily life.

If to say your yeye government get sense, they will know you dont take a measure that drastically reduces people's purchasing power without providing a way to cushion the effects. You just wake up one morning and your 100k is no longer worth 100k, just like that, you are in deep shit. Person go dey cap anyhow.

Lovit:
if i have the figures for 2025 for Nigeria I can help you with it

Just so you get it, if Bola and Chinwe wants to lose weight in two years, if the figures are as follows:

Bola - 50kg in 2024, Chinwe - 15kg in 2024

Bola - 10kg in 2025, Chinwe - 30kg in 2025

if you look at only 2025 weight loses you will think Chinwe did better, but if you do a cumulative for both of them you will realize that Bola did better 2024 till date

So in conclusion, Naira did worse than all the other currencies, a -134% alone in 2024 is just too much.
You're a mad man.

Instead of you to learn, arrogance and pride won’t allow you.

So you don’t know if for instance, you are owing the bank #134 last year and have not paid back, but this year you borrowed nothing , that you still owe that #134 ?
Compare that with another person who owed #34 last year and borrowed another #40 this
year. Total of #74.

Between you two, who owes the most

Re: 15 Worst Currencies Against The US Dollar by Ofemannnu: 10:22pm On Jun 10, 2025
GRACEGLORY:
The naira is weak against the US dollar primarily due to Nigeria's heavy reliance on oil exports, which account for over 90% of foreign exchange earnings, and declining oil prices and production have reduced dollar inflows, straining reserves. Additionally, high import dependence, speculative demand, and limited foreign direct investment exacerbate pressure on the naira, driving depreciation.

To strengthen the naira, Nigeria could diversify its economy by boosting non-oil sectors like agriculture and manufacturing to increase foreign exchange earnings and reduce import dependency. Additionally, implementing tighter monetary policies, attracting foreign investment, and improving oil production efficiency would stabilize reserves and reduce speculative pressure on the currency. And this is already being done by the present administration. WE AWAIT RESULTS
Thanks to Tinubu..
Nigeria's GDP Growth in Q2 2022 is driven by the non-oil Sector ...
In the first quarter of 2025, Nigeria's non-oil sector exhibited strong growth, contributing significantly to the country's overall GDP. The non-oil sector expanded by 24.75%, reaching $1.79 billion, a significant increase from previous periods. This growth is attributed to diverse sectors like agriculture, services, and manufacturing, indicating a diversification away from oil dependence.

They are still correcting your ignorance, you still persist.
They don't do aggregate of the strength of a currency the way you are doing.
A currency is either strong or weak at a particular point in time.
The strongest currency in the world is the currency of Kuwait.
