Man laments after a supermarket in Kwara state allegedly denied him access because of his baby’s physical appearance (video)

A video of a Nigerian dad lamenting after a supermarket in the Emirate Mall in Ilorin, Kwara state, allegedly denied him access because of his baby’s physical appearance.

The father and his special needs child had visited the mall during the Eid holiday. The man clad in white native attire carried his daughter, who was dressed in pink, in his hand. It appears he attempted to make his way into a supermarket to purchase a few items but was allegedly
denied access.

Annoyed by the action of the staff, he expressed his disappointment saying;

‘’This is a supermarket….she is also a child like other children here. Those children are not crying. They welcomed them. Now the staff are walking us out because of my baby. No problem'' he said

In another part of the video, the dad could be seen hyping his baby girl so she would not feel bad over the alleged treatment meted out to them.

it is quite ridiculous

I went early this morning to track a tenant who's been owing his rent for quite some time now and has been annoyingly elusive about it...no calls no reach out to me..not picking or returning calls and messages... As he narrate his ordeal finish I just made some noises and left but for my mind I no go just trouble this man again..let me not compound his already suicidal state... On my way out I gave his son preparing for school 1k.. furthermore in tbe same neighborhood I saw a child with badly deformed legs struggling to school.. I reduced speed and asked where her school was ...she pointed to the opposite direction...so I asked why she was going the opposite way,she said she was hurrying to her mom's shop to take money for breakfast n Keke.. I asked if I can gv her something..so I dont look like a ritualist or sth like that to her.. she hesitated,studied me and then convinced herself that I'm am alright man..she nodded shyly..so I gave her 3k to buy some snacks for the week.... I haven't stopped thinking about her since then..the way she wore her old stockings and hat very smartly and struggling with her circumstances... I'd made up my mind to do sth more for her..she won't be hard to find in that area


These are the kind of things humans should do... Not condemning humans because of their deformities n other circumstances...

Saw the video earlier on Facebook and felt sad for him.

The supermarket should be severely punished, they should be made to pay the man and his family a great amount of money and apologize to the family and all Nigerians offended.

Very pathetic.
This supermarket has to be temporarily suspended for discriminating against this little innocent baby. She didn't choose to come to the world in this form. What she needs is a special support unlike other children. May God continue to strengthen and equip every parent to special children both mentally and financially because it's not easy to take care of a special child.
