The May 20 report by SaharaReporters revealed that the exposure of land racketeering in the State had led to an official investigation into the extensive fraud.

SaharaReporters obtained a document showing that the EFCC, in a letter dated May 16, 2025, formally requested detailed records from the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development regarding questionable land allocations to 14 companies across prime areas in Lagos, including Banana Island, Lekki, Osborne Foreshore, and Lagos Lagoon.

Normally ordinary man for street get levels pass Nigerian politicians. I mean why everybody go just dey decamp like say na one-way ticket to heaven. It's a shame

I don't understand. According to laws of Nigeria, allocation of land is the sole prerogative of a state governor. Not even a president can revoke it. How is tinubu now able to revoke a land a sitting governor has approved in his own state? Unless via the backdoor things

The land is a setback of the lagoon which is under FG jurisdiction, just the way LASG gave out Oniru, Landmark and Good beach, but FG after many years came around to take charge of the shoreline.
If such allocation isn't revoke now, another fed govt will come years later to demolish whatever structure that's on it

The laws are very clear. That's why a state governor can decide to dash a land free to a deserving individual or to anybody and no one can question that, and he also has powers to revoke lands

The issue or question is not wether he is the governor of Lagos state.
The problem is that he is been identified as a figure in a land racketeering scheme which involves land ministry officials and God help him that those officials are not going to be saying and mentioning his name up and down.

A.state governor cannot unilaterally allocate lands under the purview of the federal govt

So because he is governor he can just take any land and sell. You are sounding as if governors can do anything after all he is the governor but people like you will still complain that politicians do

These are all Federal Govt lands. The Federal Govt has exclusive right to all lands within 100m or set back from all local and international waterways. And from all indication, these lands fall within Federal Government execlusive ownership. The state govt was ill advised in allocating these lands without collaborating with Federal Govt.

Water front lands in Lagos State, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa are hot cakes now... Just that the rush for Lagos is more visible now.

Keep shut. Lands allocated by the governor can be illegal due to last minute allocation and greed. Lagos is Lagos and that's the reason it remains the central point till today.
Whether you like Tinubu or not illegal lands allocated must be revoked.
