There are still Nigerians hailing him and BAT.. Had to check his page yesterday night and he has 2.6m followers and a large number of people still liking his posts, I just shook my head..

The brain of the average Nigerian is very interesting..
I think most of them onlh agree with him because his current leanings agree with their individual and collective bias at the moment.

He boldly claimed he drove on the 30km stretch of the road and that he was going to tour the road with press men to verify and shame that other guy that raised an alarm about the veracity of the 30km claim of the FG. I was expecting he would shame the guy and show us that truly all 30km has been completed as commissioned; only for him to be telling stories.

And some people are insulting the guy instead of asking Reno for the proof he promised. Indeed the what is in the brain of some Nigerians is very very interesting

😂😂😂

This is normal fraud that happens in almost companies. Bankers divert bank funds and withdraw customers fund illegally, drivers of trucks of manufacturing firms run off with truckload of goods, site managers sell off construction materials, etc.

These are typical business risks which most businessmen men already put in measures to manage. I'm sure Dangote has fidelity guarantee insurance that will reimburse him for whatever amount out of the 4 billion naira they are unable to reviver from the culprit after prosecution. It's one of the requirements his lenders would have him provide before they advance him credit for the construction and operation of the refinery.

That's not "another case of sabotage" , it's just defalcating employees trying to defraud their employer and getting caught.

Why are people being so hard on him though? In the end, it's his money. How he spends it is his problem. I don't know why folks are on his matter. For him to send that amount to a lady he hasn't seen her pant before, it's clear he has enough. They should leave him alone. He's not the first to do it, and he won't be the last.
No its not. Except of course his name ends in Limited.

I really dislike it when CEO's/MD use company account to pursue personal frivolities.

Plus he's another one of these stupid guys using money to appreciate beauty

Not sabotage. Just pure crookedness and thievery which doesnt surprise most of us

Private sector professionals who would also argue that they are completely different from the politicians.

Befuddling that people were still disputing afrodoc's position the other day about the similarity between the average Nigerian and their politicians.

Anyone who thinks otherwise isnt being totally honest or has a political agenda/undertone. There's a mindset problem that needs a overhaul

This should not be normal.
Not if we have any desire to become a high-income country.

This is sabotage. No ifs, ands, or buts.

If a few of those 12 people become local government chairmen or commissioners in the future, people will start acting shocked and asking why Nigerian politicians are wicked.

Bankers normally divert funds. Drivers normally run away with company goods. Site managers normally sell off construction materials.
We however expect this society that has people from all works of life normally and fraudulently obtaining whatever they can get their hands on to produce politicians that will not normally embezzle public funds.

It is a makanaki something.

One of the present commissioners in lasg was sacked from a major bank several years ago for massive fraud. The dude did not spend a day in jail. He was simply banned from working in the industry. I am not even sure it was a permanent ban

diesel theft is big business across board unfortunately

we had a tanker driver delivering diesel to an industrial customer simply remove the diesel and replace with water

there is a company that introduced automated tank guaging to nigeria. you would just find that engineering and maintenance departments had been over invoicing diesel consumption for years.

just last week, a client who we had supplied a generator to call us to complain that it was leaking diesel. w found someone had opened the tank drain, probably to siphon off some diesel and did not close it back properly. So the generator was leaking diesel.

from the lowly maiguard to the head of maintenance, everyone is in on it sad sad sad

The fact that Tunde understands why explaining his position to people that have been a part of his Chess in Slums project, through retweets, likes, and donations is why he's been able to garner as much goodwill as he has over the years.

The job he does is a sensitive one, and the flack he's facing isn't exactly peculiar...NGOs around the world deal with these sort of accusations every now and again (the USAID blanket cancellation is case in point). The reputation of an NGO is the fuel with which it runs, and the smart thing was to explain his position, some persons would see reasons and continue to support, some won't and it's okay too...the most important thing is he's doing the job that's needed to help him keep touching the lives of the kids.

This is probably the first major backlash that Tunde's organization has had to deal with, so it's not like he'd be needing to explain himself every eke market day, and even if that's the case, it's part of job description...reputation management. It's good he understood that his personal feelings should not come before the work he does, and the lives he's imparting.

The head gateman at one private hospital i worked at around 2007-2008 was in charge of buying diesel and starting the generator. The guy used to siphon both the funds meant for diesel and the diesel itself. I will be on night shift and the guy will put the gen off latest by 10pm claiming there is no fuel. His usual pattern was to wait until the MD finishes seeing patients. Immediately the MD's car drives through the gate the gen goes off. Meanwhile the guy will be pocketing all the extra money. If you see where this guy is analyzing and criticizing the government, you will think he is another Gani Fawehinmi.

Going by the dictionary definition of sabotage, it's not...it's good old thievery.

verb
deliberately destroy, damage, or obstruct (something), especially for political or military advantage.
"power lines from South Africa were sabotaged by rebel forces"

noun
the action of sabotaging something.
"a coordinated campaign of sabotage"

It is both

The guy who swapped diesel for water - that diesel was headed for a mining company. Already they were complaining that our low quality naija diesel was bad for their machines.now someone swapped out the diesel for dirty water. What would that have done to their operations? What would have been our liability as a company?

The maiguard stealing diesel in the place afrodoc worked - people die in hospitals all the time because of people no fuel.

Last year an nrc train died in the middle of nowhere because it ran out of diesel.

For the thieves it is theft, but for the business it is actual sabotage

I don't really know what u are on and about, but Fraud is a major business risk that is inherent in all organizations whether in Nigeria, UK or Australia.

Leave Nigeria and go to Japan U will see businesses buying Fidelity guarantee insurance to protect them against act of fraud and dishonesty of their employees. Go to Canada you will see companies buying the same policy for the same purpose.

Fraud happens in all business environment where people work, that is why the management put up measures to either prevent or control the risk when it crystalizes.

Someday Nigerians would have to broach the topic of corruption in the private sector.

Can't rail against Senate budget insertions and simultaneously excuse thievery.
Pick a lane. Either all corruption is bad or all should be tolerated.

Essentially, if we had an Apple in Nigeria, most Nigerians would be fine with staff defrauding the company of tens of billions of dollars annually.
Justifications would be consistent profitability, insurance (premiums go up but who gaf?), "everyone is doing it".
But politicians are evil for doing the exact same thing.
