That lady did nothing wrong. She asked the man to bring out the patient from the car. She even brought a wheel chair. But the useless man locked his car door (yes when the lady in question pulled the handle of the car door it was locked) and was busy videoing the woman. I saw the video. Ooh, she is even a doctor? And they are accusing her of not bringing patient out? That stupid man making video should be flogged. It is not the duty of nurses or doctors to put patient on trolley or wheelchairs. That is the duty of a ward assistant or hospital porter. She has done the proper thing by asking the videographer to bring the man out for her to see. But the mumu is interested in his video and not interested in carrying the man out. Let me even ask... Who helped him to carry the patient into his car in the first place when he saw the man on the road? Why is it now a big deal for him to carry patient out of his car? Nonsense! |

It is the duty of everyone working in the hospital to assist patient during emergencies. It doesn't matter your designation when there is emergency you must help in anyway to make sure the patient receives speedy and appropriate care. Moving trauma patient is especially important and the doctors on duty must be involved. |
| Re: Doctor Not Nurse Refused To Treat Accident Victim At FMC, Abuja (Photos) by stasius: 2:57pm On Jun 11, 2025 |
olisasegun:Doctor or a nurse must be involved to supervise the movement and not to lift the patient. Forget the nonsense you watch in movies. Go and look up the meaning of WARD ASSISTANT or HOSPITAL PORTER. EVERY HOSPITAL IN NIGERIA SHOULD HAVE AND EMPLOY THEM. It is only in Nigeria that you see people doing the job they are not designated to do yet the Nigerians citizens don't appreciate them. Doctors and nurses are not Jackie! Everyone in the hospital have their designated duties. |

Are you telling me that in western countries if a situation like this should present itself, the doctor on duty will walk away? |

atiku4President:Hmmm, more like it is not the assigned duty of a doctor. However, if the hospital have proper emergency protocols she can direct the employees to do it. It seems it is an emergency situation and a doctor can assist. I do not want to write long but part of the problems in this hospitals are from the managers(doctors). I studied business admin and everytime I go to a government hospital, want comes to my mind is operational deficiencies. In terms of running a smooth operation they are deficient, they will rather have doctors managing the hospitals intead of hiring a co manager who will run the operational aspect. The management of emergency situations is in a mess in many hospitals that can cause life threatening problems to patients, right now let the doctors who manage the hospitals deal with it or call in others to manage it. I have issues with some of these foreign donors that give vaccines and treatments to these hospitals. It is a nightmare, a doctor should know and do something. The same goes for how public universities are run |

Nigerians still do not know that women can be doctors. Always concluding female doctors are nurses even when they wear their names with title on their clothes or foreheads.. Someone will go to hospital, enter consulting room, see a female doctor sitting down there ..he or she will call the doctor a nurse. Lolz |

Professor822714:Bro, he is not lying and he is not nuts... If u go to any general hospital or teaching hospital and stay there for like 6 months you'll know better.... A diabetic patient once fainted right in front of me... I rushed towards him sat him up and I saw a Dr approaching, immediately I called, doc pls help out, he came asked d man jst two questions and walked straight into his car.... He jst finished his call(duty) and was on his way home....he asked me to call a nurse.... olisasegun:Do you expect the WOMAN doctor to lift the victim off the car and into the ward That's the job of hospital porters! The yeye man videoing the incident was even in a better position to carry the victim but he was busy trying to score some cheap points even when the lady provided a trolley. The hospital management and government are to blame in this case for not employing enough hands to run the hospital--- a problem common in our public hospitals. The lady is not at fault abeg! |

frazee:Please go and watch that video again. She pulled the handle of the car door and it was locked. The videographer did not even open his car until they have to scold him before he unlocked the car. Also she brought a wheelchair and told the man bring out the patient na. Is she supposed to peep into the glass to see and examine the patient? Let us analyse things rationally and not sentimentally abeg. |

You only saw a video of 4 minutes that's not the time the man drove in with the patient. The man started videoing when the hospital staffs refused to do the needful. You can hear the man saying he had spent more than 15 minutes without anyone attending to them. My dad retired as an Orthopedic Nurse, my mum retired as a Midwife and my daughter is currently 2 years old as a Nurse but I will not support wrong. It's the job of EVERYONE in a hospital to help an accident victim. |

Professor822714:It's good you used the term "chop in". If the appropriate personnel are on ground to do their job, that lady can actually help scavenge one or two tasks for them. But in a situation where health assistants or paramedics are no where to be found, you don't expect her to be struggling with patient, trying to bring him out of that car unto a wheel chair or stretcher. You people don't rate health workers in this country that is why they keep leaving in droves. |

| Re: Doctor Not Nurse Refused To Treat Accident Victim At FMC, Abuja (Photos) by Jeje247: 3:16pm On Jun 11, 2025 |
Skydivine:You should know that there should be health assistants and paramedics attending to the patient before the doctor comes in. By this narrative of oath this and that, you are absolving the government and other staff from accountability. The government can decide not to employ relevant personnel while those personnel can decide to abscond from their duty post as they swore no oath |

Jeje247:As long as the doctor is present at the scene, he /she is in charge. It’s authoritative. All he needs to do is to use the authority to issue orders. The level of responsibility and expectations are quite different. |

Jeje247:They are leaving in droves for money not for struggling to help carry patients. Health workers abroad especially the young ones work 80 hours week, some can work 24 hrs straight. Abroad, if there is an emergency situation, a doctor is advised to take charge not forced but by a call of civic duty to help out. For example in a medical emergency on a plane they always ask for a doctor, part of your civic duty is to assist. |

atiku4President:Even though her reaction was not the best, considering the circumstances, but is it right to be filming someone in the course of their professional duty. Accident scene, police extortion yes,but this perchant of Nigerians to film everything, even in work places they go to,for posting on SM,should be checked. Ask yourself why does not occur in foreign work places? It doesn't mean there are no negligent or unprofessional workers, it's just that they know it's illegal to film someone doing a professional job |

Abeg let these people breath. Many people commenting against or for the said Nurse/Doctor are also guilty of competency while discharging their duties. In our usual way, let's pretend like we don't know that's how things are in both public and private organizations. Nigerians wicked pass the devil itself. |

Tradepunter2:You can call him names you want but he understood our system and he needed to expose the system and now we can see result as government and media houses are beginning to look into it. I laughed and felt sad when I saw "emergency" written on the entrance but in reality, there is no such of urgency at the point of emergency unit. Nigeria I hail thee! What a country. |

FunkyAlhaji2015:That's the problem, where have they gone to? We can see the doctor on duty, the morticians use to switch off their phones most times to avoid being reached to come and carry corpses of patients. I'm sure you will blame the doctor and nurses for this |
