My family house built over 50yrs ago for God knows how much, the roof renovations alone cost more than the cost of the entire building from purchase to construction and furnishings!

So what are you saying? That the money spent on renovations is justified? 39b?.
Anyway, Nigerians deserve what they get.
The same minister spoke of how his wife flew on a jet to Lagos to pick his child and when she arrived he entered the same private jet to go to Lagos to meet with someone only for the jet to have engine failure.
Do know how much it cost to hire a private jet per hour not to talk of using one as if it is taxi or uber. Do you know a flight from PH to Lagos cost about $10k or more? These people are blowing money as if it is paper and still Nigerians are here defending them, seeing reason with them, worrying for them.
Imagine you seemingly reasoning someone spending 39b of citizens money recklessly and you de "understand".

This is an understatement. It can build up to 100 of it if not more. Don't you read about the massive road projects in China. You see over 600 km road projects crossing the sea and underground costing just 2 billion dollars. If it's Nigeria, only 10 km road will swallow 100 million dollars. They should keep looting. I don't envy them. There end is destruction.

I've not been there after it was renovated. I've you been to the national theatre before and after he was renovated

I agree that the amount for this project is too much, especially in these times.

But in FG's defense, finishing a house can cost more than building it. And then factor in the wild inflation we are currently experiencing.

You too too biased...... Even if it is a New one, half of that money will finish everything concerning that building to dust. Are you telling those who doesn't engage in a building construction or what.
You said you reroof your family house. Me I was a assistant manager for building a 37- rooms Hotel at Port Harcourt Last year. Till I left last November the only thing left to complete the 3 story building was just the wall tiles for Toilets and baths because the tiles was ordered from China and we were still expecting them. Everything furnishings has been done including beddings. Guess the total amount spent so far before I left 387Million.
You can't tell me that ICC renovations gulp up to 20 billion naira, never, even if you choose to use Turkish gadgets there because Chinese gadgets cost less

The project is a total fraud just like the over 300billoon for about 215 street lights.The renovation of that ICC will not cost more than 4 billion.Wike has looted at least 35 billion from that project.That is how he gets the funds he used for bribing judges.Wike’s end is near

I am not justifying the present administration. But after converting the rate to its dollar equivalent of the periods, N240m as at 1991 was around 30k$ and the N39b is around 26k$ in present exchange rate.
The rate is still too high compare to the cost of starting it from scratch. May theord deliver our country sha.

In as much I am not in support of any political party or politicians, but let's say the truth, the money used in building the ICC 34yrs ago can't be the same if they were to build another brand new one today, but that amount for just renovating it is outrageous sha!

It's really not that much for such a huge complex that is the nation's Number 1 conference center.

This is its first renovation since construction in the 1990s.

So yes, it can legitimately cost that amount to upgrade it.

In the countries you people worship, they upgrade such facilities with heavy funding every 5 years or less.
