rugged7:It's not a duplication of the SBS. Even the deep blue MSU is only focused on the regular things amphibious infantry do. Standards at SBS is so high you'd have to relax it to expand. However, we both share the idea that NA amphibious divisions(yes there are 2 divisions) is where focus should be. Although the need for a marine can be justified because there's a gap between the SBS and regular navymen, however I'd beg NN to be like NAF not NA and not be "activity focused" i.e " we deploy to 30 out of 36 states". NAF Rgt has not lost sight that force protection is it's purpose, NN Marines should do likewise. |

On 24 May when ISWAP attacked the 152 Bn in Kumshe, no soldier was at the base. More weapons and equipment are captured/destroyed. Why do our troops just leave weapons and equipments easily to these terrorists, I saw a Vickers & T70 been destroyed in the video. Llink;

rugged7:I see what you mean. However, standoff missiles are quite expensive (some cost up to $100 k each, and those are basic ones) and a small airforce like the Nigerian Airforce cannot hope to use them sustainably. Not only would the ones procured with the super tucanos have been exhausted, i can assure you that Trump would not sell new ones to Nigeria right now. But certainly we should be creative enough to evolve tactics to counter those massed attacks by Boko haram either using air attacks with normal munitions or even just with swift counter attacks using highly mobile ground units. In fairness to our security agencies, I have seen a very good improvement in our responses to these attacks since the disaster at Marte. We simply need to keep up the good work. |

You miss the point. It doesn't even have to be stand away missiles. Elementary drop bombs targeted properly with JTAC coordination is good enough. 2ndly, Nigeria has existed for 100 years. You mean to tell me with all the brilliant Nigerians all over the world, inclufingvworking in most military complexes in Europe and America, they can't produce standaway missiles at an industrial scale. Iran and North Korea and China are reverse engineering everything. During the biafran war the biafran forces were practically producing most of these type of weapons via their RAP research units. NAF AIRSTRIKES FOIL TERROR PLOT AHEAD OF EID IN BORNO In a series of precision airstrikes conducted on 5 and 6 June 2025, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under Operation HADIN KAI, decimated key Boko Haram hideouts at Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia in the Southern Tumbuns, Borno State. Acting on credible intelligence, NAF aircraft targeted terrorist structures reportedly used for storage and coordination, delivering direct hits and crippling planned attacks aimed at disrupting Eid celebrations. Battle Damage Assessments confirmed the neutralisation of several terrorists and the destruction of key logistics structures. This pre-emptive action underscores the Nigerian Air Force's commitment to safeguarding civilian lives and supporting national security objectives. Army Troops neutralise Malam Jidda, ISWAP ameer in Borno and recover arms Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces have intensified their ongoing counterterrorism offensives across the North East, neutralising a top terrorist commander and recovering assorted weapons in multiple operations. Zagazola Makama was reliably informed that the troops, in a special operation conducted at Ngazalgana village, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe, made contact with terrorists and neutralised Malam Jidda, identified as the Ameer (leader) of Ngorgore and Malumti villages. The sources said the troops recovered weapons from the slain commander, including AK-47 rifles, magazines and a motorcycle used by the terrorists for mobility. “In another operation on the Timbuktu Triangle axis, a snap ambush team deployed by troops engaged Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements in a swift and decisive encounter. “Some of the terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered additional AK-47 rifles and various categories of ordnance,” one of the sources said. Similarly, in Abadam axis of northern Borno, troops conducting exploitation following a recent encounter in Mallamfatori continued to recover more bodies of terrorists and an assortment of abandoned weapons. “The terrorists fled in disarray, leaving behind weapons of different calibres after the ferocious counterattack by the gallant troops,” the source added. The ongoing operations are part of coordinated efforts by the Nigerian military to degrade terrorist enclaves and restore stability to affected communities across the North East. Source: @Zagazola

rugged7:Why do you need to use stand-off missiles against the terrorists? Are these terrorists possibly equipped with MANPADs? Sorry, I'm new to this whole conflict so I don't know much about the terrorists in question, whose proxies they are, and what arms they have access to. BTW, is that an A-10 on the photos you posted? I had no idea that Nigerian Air force has A-10 ground attack aircraft. Cool. |

DeathParade:There is no need for stand off missiles. However I believe it's right about time fires-control/air-ground training proliferates (at least for field officers). NAF has no A-10. It uses the Super Tucano and it is very effective. |

Again, NAF Jets Decimate Terrorist Enclave in Bukar Meram in Lake Chad As part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and deny them freedom of action, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) has conducted another successful air interdiction mission at a terrorist enclave in Bukar Meram, located in the southern axis of the Lake Chad region. Zagazola Makama was reliably informed by sources that the mission, which was executed in the early hourz of Monday, June 9, at about 0545 hours, was carried out under the auspices of Operation KALACHEN WUTA II. The sources said that the operation formed part of a broader strategy aimed at disrupting terrorist activities before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir Sallah period. He said that intelligence-led surveillance revealed that the terrorists were regrouping at the Bukar Meram location with intent to launch coordinated attacks on Marte and Monguno general areas. Prompted by this credible intelligence, the Air Component swiftly mobilised to engage the enclave. Airstrikes were conducted with precision, leading to the neutralisation of several terrorists. The strikes also resulted in the destruction of critical terrorist logistics, including supply vehicles, makeshift shelters, and weapons storage points. The decimation of the enclave not only inflicted significant losses on the terrorists but also disrupted their operational planning and movement. The sources added that Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) conducted after the mission confirmed that the planned attacks on Marte and Monguno were effectively thwarted. Further intelligence gathering is ongoing to assess enemy reactions and possible movement patterns following the successful interdiction. Ground troops have also been placed on heightened alert to exploit the gains of the airstrike and maintain pressure on fleeing remnants. |

bidex111:In Peter Drury’s Voice… ** And more, and more and more** No breathing space for terrorists in Nigeria. Kudos to AFN for sustaining the offensive. I hope the federal government will prioritize fencing Nigeria’s borders even if it will require loans. If AES doesn’t want to collaborate to put an end to the issue of terrorism in the Sahel region, no qualms. Nigeria will do what it has to do to ensure security of the state and for the state. |

DeathParade:Buttressing Odunayaw’s response. NAF employs guided & unguided bombs and Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems in the form of Hydra 70 rockets to take out ground targets. The APKWS does the job of a missile but at an efficient cost and lesser logistics headache. And given the fact that the internal security operations are low intensity conflicts, the APKWS is perfect for it especially in close air support operations. NAF also uses unguided 68 and 57mm rockets and I believe it is working towards local production of 57mm rockets.

Exnavyboy62:I think the military problem is to keep sustaining this types of offensive, taking the fight to the enemy, the airforce carrying out more ISR missions, interdiction and timely ground support for surface troops. I know this entails alot of funding from the government, For the fencing thing, I don't see that happening soon and foe me it's not a solution ending cross border attacks from terrorist, they can easily blow up such gence and make way anywhere. We've seen this criminals blowing up power grids easily without been caught. |
