They did worse to candidate Tinubu few years back while he wasn't holding any position of authority. Called him baba wey no well, he faced a million times more opposition from his own party from his protege and almost everyone was against him. Obi hasn't face any opposition. Even Tinubu ethnic group deserted him so to say while Obi enjoyed and still enjoying block votes and a cult like support from his ethnic mobs. Obi is lucky I tell you. He got the last presidential ticket of labor on a platter of Gold while Tinubu who fought tooth and nail to build a party from scratch was frustrated by almost everyone who benefited from his efforts. Obi is a lucky kindergarten politician.

In a desperate attempt to tear down the integrity of Peter Obi, Sanwo Olu's aide made a double blunder while trying to point out someone else's perceived error.

Being blinded by inconsequential issues in an attempt to score a cheap political point is never a good look.

Nairaland moderators, please move to the front page. Thanks
Peter Obi isn't holding any office yet Agbado people pee in their trousers everyday about his matter.

On Twitter, Omojuwa has been appointed online minister for Peter Obi affairs.

Tinubu was running for election to rule the most populous black nation on earth. With all the blunder he was making during campaign, it would be understandable if people verbally attack him or call him names. But Peter Obi is only critiscing the government constructively and people are attacking him. Did you hear that International Conference Center was renovated with 39 billion? Renovated not built. Is that the kind of government you wish for your dear nation.
You said Tinubu built party for the scratch; that was a blatant lie and you people over exaggerate his capacity. There was a merger, CPC (major bloc) Tinubu's ACN (2nd major bloc) New PDP led by Amechi & Saraki (third major bloc. ANPP (4th major bloc) and finally, Rochas Okorocha APGA faction. So kindly tell me how he built a party from the scratch?

Sir, I don't have issues with Obi or Sanwo or their aids.
I am only educating Nigerian that the President's flag is the one being displayed by both Sanwo Olu and Peter Obi and it's constitutionally wrong. Both Sanwo Olu and Peter Obi were wrong. Simplito.
"Constitutionally"?

what sections of the constitution said that only a seating president can use the nigerian flag with the coat of arms on it?

Lol...good question sir. Most of the laws in Nigeria are not in the constitution but in "ACTS" like the Naira Abuse that e person can be fined or jailed for is not a constitutional matter but an act that is enforceable even other laws with INEC and EFCC and many more.
Now read the explanation below maybe you can pick something from them. But thanks for the question. It's very thoughtful of you to ask.

The part of the Nigerian Constitution that provides for the president's exclusive use of the national flag with the coat of arms is not explicitly detailed in the 1999 Constitution itself. Instead, this provision is found in a subsidiary legislation under the Flag and Coat of Arms Act, specifically:

Flag and Coat of Arms (Standardisation) Act, 1960 (as amended)

Under this law:

Section 3(1) of the Flag and Coat of Arms Act provides that only the President may use the National Flag with the Coat of Arms superimposed on it.

The general public is only permitted to use the plain green-white-green flag, without the coat of arms.

Summary:

Not in the Constitution, but in the Flag and Coat of Arms Act.

Section 3(1) is the key part stating the president’s exclusive right to use the flag with the coat of arms.

THANKS.

Two wrongs do not make a right.
It is only the president who is allowed to use the Nigerian flag with the coat of arm on it.
Both Obi and Sanwo Olu are wrong to use the flag with a coat of arm on it.

LET ME EDUCATE YOU AND EVERYONE

WHY THE PRESIDENT USES THE FLAG WITH THE COAT OF ARM ON IT.
1. Distinction of Office (Presidential Standard)

The flag with the coat of arms is known as the Presidential Standard. It is a variation of the national flag used specifically by the President of Nigeria. The coat of arms in the center signifies that the flag represents the office of the President, not just the country in general.

This version is flown or displayed:

At the President’s official residence (e.g., Aso Rock).

On vehicles, aircraft, or podiums when the President is present.

At international or state functions involving the President.

2. National Flag vs. Presidential Flag

The national flag (green-white-green, without the coat of arms) represents Nigeria as a nation and is used by the general public, institutions, and at most official events.

The Presidential version (with the coat of arms) represents the authority of the President specifically.

This practice aligns with global norms. Many countries have a modified version of the national flag for their heads of state or military leaders (e.g., the U.S. Presidential Seal on the U.S. flag, or the UK Royal Standard for the monarch).

ARE GOVERNORS PERMITTED TO USE THAT FLAG?
No, state governors in Nigeria are not authorized to use the national flag with the coat of arms on the white stripe—that version is reserved exclusively for the President and represents the federal executive authority.

VERDICT: Buhari was right to use the flag with the coat of arm on it. Obi and Sanwo Olu were wrong to use the flag with the coat of arm on it.

Thanks.
Can you back what you wrote with the constitutional laws of Nigeria and when that law came to be ?

Check my last response on the Act that backed it up. That act is subsistent and has not been set aside and that's why presidents has been keeping to using it.

Thanks.

@Naptu2 is the ultimate resource person who can add more insights on to this thread. I remember he emphasized on this topic on his thread a couple of years ago. I can't readily find the post he made right now but will post the link here if I can create time to find it.

Second, is Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State right or wrong to use the Nigerian flag with the coat of arms on it? Peter Obi obviously has NO basis to use the flag with the coat of arms because he's currently NOT a political office holder.

Tbh, semi-literacy is a huge disease that befuddles the minds of the victims. Period.

The flag with the coat of arm is exclusive ONLY for the PRESIDENT according to SECTION 3(1) of the FLAG AND COAT OF ARM ACT. So anyone other than the President has NO right to use the Nigeria flag with the coat of arms.

THANKS.

Naptu2 responded as well by sharing this link to his ultimate thread [created 2 years ago] on the same "Flags and Coat of Arms" topic with me. There are attached historical images of the various official flags and coat of arms on the thread.

I've posted the thread link right BELOW for everyone one to see and read. Ignorance is NOT an excuse here on basic historical FACTS everyone should know.

What is the legal sentence for whoever breaks the law by using the flags?

Good question sir. What is the legal implications you ask.

The legal implications for anyone other than the President of Nigeria who uses the national flag with the coat of arms are specified in the Flag and Coat of Arms Act, particularly regarding unauthorized use.

Flag and Coat of Arms Act (1960), Section 7

> Section 7(1) – "Any person who flies or exhibits the National Flag, or any flag made to resemble the National Flag, in contravention of any regulation made under this Act, shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or to both such fine and imprisonment."

Unauthorized use of the flag with the coat of arms (which is reserved for the President) can lead to:

A fine (amount not specified in the Act),

Imprisonment for up to 6 months, or

Both fine and imprisonment.

Only the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is legally permitted to use the national flag with the coat of arms superimposed on it.

Other individuals, institutions, or organizations must not use it, even for decoration, unless specifically authorized by regulation.

Thanks.

Thanks for reading through the act sir.
Back to your screenshot:
CERTAIN FLAGS
The statement certain flag as used in the subsection of this act explained that citizens do not need LICENSE to flag certain flags (this certain flags includes but not restricted to) Nigerian flag, Russian flag, Israeli flag, Canadian flag, UK flag etc.
That is why people can fly different flags in schools, organizations, cars etc without being arrested by that subsection explained that people can fly certain flag (not biafran, o'odua, arewa flags) as long as it doesn't not affect the patriotism and nationalism of the individual.

Thanks.
