basically you build a house and leave a family member to occupy it/take care of ity for you and the person gets used to the idea of the house being his. everyone assumes it is for the member, then one day you show up to take the house over and your caretaker who has become used to living in a fancy mansion has to go and find what he can afford - a one bedroom face me i face you

It is more likely to happen in the village with the mindset, exposure level, and economic capacity of most of the people there.

All this attachment to place cos na there them born you is something I will never understand.

Retiring to Nigeria and it's shoddy Healthcare system is already a problem on it's own, when you now factor village people that want what you got it becomes even more problematic.

If your children are not in the country I don't see why you're rushing back. As an older person you will just be easy licks for desperate younger extended family

People need to also strongly consider building smaller houses. Some don't even have kids that travel home and still build massive houses that you can only stay in but one room

The older you get the less space you need. The less money people assume you have to throw around

I was watching a video of late MKO house the other day. It's now all old and raggedy. People were yabbin Kola for not renovating the house and I was just laughing. People don't understand that laslas all na vanity and the financial burden of renovating such a large space is too capital intensive

People that have nothing doing and even less going for them in life. Most likely they have been making sacrifice at the shrine for the gods to keep him abroad for ever.

One big mistake some of those our fathers’ generation made and some of them continue to make is placing their siblings and extended families above their own immediate/nuclear family they created .

You will see a man put almost everything in the care of his siblings/extended family members while his own wife and kids have little or no clue what and what he owns . Some of them do not understand that the brother or sister u grew up with back then in the trenches may have transmorphed into someone totally different from that person u used to trust . They keep these same persons in the loop while their own sons, daughters and wife who love them beyond words are left in the dark about their affairs .

One could’ve imagined what would be the man’s end if the daughter had not genuinely cared about him to the extent of coming to Naija to seek him out. She could’ve got upset that he left his immediate family in the states to come down here and she won’t bother checking him out.

It’s the urge to celebrate something that is making them celebrate injuries to civilians after the entire Iranian military command had been taken out by Osraeli strikes .

We can all see through the propaganda here. Israel is busy dismantling Iranian military infrastructures and hitting nuclear plants here and there. Small time, more major Iranian assets will burst into flames . Guess what ? The Nairaland wing of the Iranian propaganda machine will tell u it doesn’t matter .

Na why dem get mind dey intercept Iranian drones and missiles in the Middle East. I followed the German election. The Mertz guy abi man used sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine to campaign & win federal election. His opponents like the Alternative for Germany (AfD) under Alice Weidel criticized him then. Even the then German Chancellor Ola Sholz disagreed with Mr Mertz but he doubled down on his campaign.

Now, he don win election, baba don change mouth. He's now saying that Germany will not send Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
