In my opinion the man messed up going back to the village even though he is unfortunate to have a bad family ; but he really messed up choosing to go stay in the village instead of the city .

I’m guessing the family thought the mansion he built in the village is what they would inherit from him , so they did everything in their power to take him out when he showed up to use his reggae to spoil their blues .

We can’t discountenance the fact that his family was a terrible one going by how he was treated and was almost obliterated if not for the girl showing up , but still men supposed Dey think wise decisions and factor in greedy & wicked family members when taking decisions about relocating back to Nigeria like he did.

It is always advisable anybody that wants to relocate back home from abroad have a residence in a cosmopolitan city like Lagos and then he can go from time to time to visit people in the village when he so desires .

But this is the way I see it.... Israel’s stance isn’t just we have nukes, so no one else should. No. Their concern is who wants the nukes and why. So here's the distinction;

Israel has a policy of nuclear ambiguity (never officially confirmed or denied possession) and has never threatened to wipe any nation off the map. Meanwhile, Iran’s leadership, on the other hand, has openly declared its desire to destroy Israel, supports militant proxies that carry out attacks, and regularly chants “Death to Israel” at official events.

So imo, It’s not about fairness per say. It’s about intent, ideology, and stability. The fear isn’t just about Iran having a bomb, it’s about who would control it, how they'd use it, and who they’re targeting.

So for Israel, and honestly much of the world, stopping Iran from going nuclear isn’t about dominance it’s about survival.

Another mistake was not knowing the type of extended family he had.

There is a reason why village people is a thing. If you want to japada in your old age it should be to the city. Village people can be incredibly dark minded.

Retiring to Nigeria and it's shoddy Healthcare system is already a problem on it's own, when you now factor village people that want what you got it becomes even more problematic.

If your children are not in the country I don't see why you're rushing back. As an older person you will just be easy licks for desperate younger extended family

People need to also strongly consider building smaller houses. Some don't even have kids that travel home and still build massive houses that you can only stay in but one room

The older you get the less space you need. The less money people assume you have to throw around

I was watching a video of late MKO house the other day. It's now all old and raggedy. People were yabbin Kola for not renovating the house and I was just laughing. People don't understand that laslas all na vanity and the financial burden of renovating such a large space is too capital intensive

One big mistake some of those our fathers’ generation made and some of them continue to make is placing their siblings and extended families above their own immediate/nuclear family they created .

You will see a man put almost everything in the care of his siblings/extended family members while his own wife and kids have little or no clue what and what he owns . Some of them do not understand that the brother or sister u grew up with back then in the trenches may have transmorphed into someone totally different from that person u used to trust . They keep these same persons in the loop while their own sons, daughters and wife who love them beyond words are left in the dark about their affairs .

One could’ve imagined what would be the man’s end if the daughter had not genuinely cared about him to the extent of coming to Naija to seek him out. She could’ve got upset that he left his immediate family in the states to come down here and she won’t bother checking him out.

The best friend you left for 30yrs have likely made other best friends so hanging onto nostalgia will resort to this

As a man, your immediate family currently, as in wife and kids are still the people most interested in your welfare not one high school friend not one uncle

From the story, the man relocated back to Nigeria without any of his immediate family, no wife no children, so he just put himself at the mercy of people who have lost meaningful connections to him and only see him as a meal ticket

He get luck say his daughter from the way she spoke was familiar with the community and probably grew up in Naija before relocating, if na our current full abroad born and raised kids shey na those ones wan dey go village to fight uncle with their Yankee accent

For me the biggest lesson is like your past na your history no use clinging onto it

Some of the people relocating at old age sef, it might be because in their mind they wan use their abroad money and exchange rate advantage take dey buga their old friends, dey get reputational advantage over the locals which people can sense and breed jealousy

That was why I said if at all he wishes to relocate to Naija after retirement , the best he could do is to have a base in the city ( not necessarily Lagos ) , have domestic staff and care giver tending to him and occasionally visit the village if he wishes . That way, he live the reality of his fantasy
