Over 100 Cattle Die Mysteriously While Crossing River Benue by adenigga(op): 1:37pm On Jun 15, 2025
Over 100 cattle belonging to suspected armed Fulani herdsmen terrorizing Benue people reportedly died while crossing River Benue.

The incident occurred on Saturday, as most of them allegedly died mysteriously as sand collapsed on them due to erosion, and some drowned while swimming across River Benue to Nasarawa State.

A source, Mr. Olikita Ekani, said he witnessed the incident while returning from his farm on Saturday.

“I was coming from my farm on Saturday, June 14, 2025, and I saw several dead cows floating on the River Benue opposite Achepe village in Nasarawa State.

“I also saw hundreds of Fulani herdsmen rushing and crossing from Benue to Nasarawa side.

“When I contacted the fishermen who were assisting in crossing the herdsmen from the Benue side of the river to Nasarawa side, they told me the herdsmen have been rushing and crossing back to Nasarawa State the past one week, which is an indication of impending attacks ahead.

“Anytime they are rushing and crossing like this, just know that attacks are imminent. This is what has been happening here for the past one week.”

He said they have lost more than 100 cows as they attempted crossing from Benue side to Nasarawa.

A fisherman who spoke on condition of anonymity said 64 cattle died Saturday alone.

“Most of the dead cattle were killed by heavy soil falling on them when they came close to the land, while some drown while swimming.

“We have never witnessed this kind of mysterious death of cattle before.

“Their entry and crossing points are at: Abugbe to Odenyi in Nasarawa State, Ocholonya to Akpekpo, Achukpa to Ijiwo, Oleg’Ada’Gomowe to Achepe.”

The spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, could not be reached to confirm the incident as at the time of this report.

The gods are angry in Benue. Benue people need to sit up and fight back.

This article explains that the cows died because an erosion caused sand to collapse on them. This same article says that the death of the cows is mysterious. Isn't it this article itself-contradicting?

I saw his video not too long and please we should be guided. It could be anything, maybe they got drown by water or were sick and couldn't cross.

How exactly is this news compared to the death of humans those herdsmen have slaughtered in Benue?

Best news of the week
More cows into the river

I hope security agencies act on the Intel of imminent attack
That's if they care
Lest I forget, their governor don't care and as long as it's nor about 2027, tinubu doesn't care too. So the best bet I'd for benue people to mobilize themselves. A foretold war doesn't consume a cripple

Watch how the governor will quickly set up a committee to look into the mysterious death of the cows and offer compensation to the herdsmen

humans been slaughtered in Benue state is bad news while cows drowning in same Benue state is a good news that deserves a standing ovation, infact the baland'or should be giving to river Benue for this wonderful performance

that's why it's not advisable to vote a religious person into political office, imagine if this nonsense happened in river state when wike was governor, fulanis would have exited Nigeria without been told to do so

Then where is DSS when you need them, there is an Intel from the fishermen that whenever they are crossing over to Nassarawa state in their numbers,it means there is an eminent attack on the indigenous tribes but I guess no preemptive measures were put in place and lo and behold the attacks took place and was a success.
This is very annoying and DSS goes around picking people who protests against the government or those whose tweets are not pleasant in their ears.

Whatever it is avoid cow meat for a month. Stick to fish and chicken because these cows will end up in the food chain.

The guys from he South East are responsible for killing themselves and that has always been my stand. The support they gave to those who started killing policeman and destroying road blocks, to ESN and other bodies. But you see this killings they talk about in Benue, a lot is in it. The urge to hurriedly run and blame the sitting president is what I don't always like. Before now, they all said it was Buhari who was aiding his brothers to do crime, now it is Tinubu that is to be blamed. That's the human problem with we Nigerians. This problem needs to be checked first with our traditional rulers and the attitude of the governor.

In other words, Benue people poisoned the cows.

Which explains the violence.

Over100 first class citizens dead!

Bull-hari would have declared 7days of national mourning and ordered Nigerian flag to be flown at half mast.

Africans have a long way to go in understanding how the world they live in work. U tire for this reporter who is supposed to be educated. It appears much of our education revolves only around learning how to read and speak European languages without any recourse logic and basic science.

They cannot die mysteriously someone might have poison them,, this is the type of wickedness been carried out against the fulani herdsmen and when they retaliate they would be blame for it.
Do you know the price of 100 cows in themarket,, someone would lost around 100 million within the space of some hours and u expect that person to just let go everything just like that.
