sojeokeowo2014:You're not expected to have accommodation there already. You can start looking once the visa is granted. However, you'd need to enroll for health insurance from here. Hopefully you've been able to already. |

magnificient7:Thanx alot for ur insight and advice. My interview at the german consulate was 7a.m today (FRV, my wife is on DAAD Scholarship). I just want to drop a few pointers here cos it seems things keep changing slightly with them over there.... 1st all... U see that "paulinus" at the gate, just smile even if he is screaming at u while making u feel embarrassed. Kindly note: we were told to arrange our documents in "any order" we liked but "one original in front, with the corresponding photocopy at the back... Do that for all documents with u. (One original in front, one photocopy behind that particular original). Ur colored photocopyof ur passport data page is not an original document, so just put one photocopy. 2ndly... If u are using "declaration of age" & especially "declaration of bachelorhood or spinstership"... U are not the one to sign the affidavit oh. Either one of ur parents or if both are deceased then d head of ur family should sign the affidavit for u. And please include a photocopy of that person's id which had THAT SAME EXACT SIGNATURE, kindly make sure both signature is THE SAME, else u won't go past "paulinus" oh. Na bye-bye be that. 3rdly... Don't even go near german embassy if u don't have a "permission letter" from ur other spouse for any of ur kids going with you. Also pls go thru the questions on PAGE 134 on this particular thread. D questions I was asked was not far from those stated there. Kudos to the person who dropped those questions. Now the trick is, try making sure u know the answers thoroughly... U will be asked some of those questions almost 4 different times in 4 different ways... Make sure u are on that same correct answer. Make sure u are consistent with ur dates and addresses... Finally, I was surprised I was not asked to pay ANY FEES whatsoever. In fact I asked the lady who interviewed me the reason and she said "because ur wife is on DAAD scholarship, so we stopped collecting any fees for now"... But pls note... Kindly hold ur visa fees or else "paulinus" won't let u in.... Listen to his english for example... Paulinus: Can i see ur means of payment? Me: Cash Pulinus: "starts shouting* what do u mean? Don't u understand simple English? I said show me ur means of payments, & if u are not ready pls leave, nobody can stress me here. *I then pulled out 200k cash in 1k notes* Paulinus: That is what I asked for. Are u sure it is up to 140k? Me: Yes sir.... He ushers me into the consulate... Only to get inside and no money was collected. I am just trying to update the latest cos honestly, even though I don't comment much here but some people's tips and the way u answer some questions really helped me prepare. So i thought I should also drop my "small update" based on my interview was 7am this morning. I wish everyone here luck. Pls just be calm and most especially don't lie when u get in there with the person interviewing u... Worst case u will be given a few days to bring any documents u missed. Number of days given might be based on the documents u were asked to provide. And plsss.... Go with ur old pictures of u and ur spouse, of u while growing up with ur family... A few pictures are okay. God bless |

sojeokeowo2014:I got my accomodation via https://www.spotahome.com - after getting my visa. They cater towards new immigrants and landlords also provide Wohnungsgeberbestätigung for your city registration. Most offer 1yr or 2yrs contracts and they would expect you to leave after this period, which is better because it is expected that you would have found a cheaper alternative Note, there is a minimum amount of space needed for each member of your family and the apartment must fulfill that before you can get that document. Infact, landlords can reject your application because of this. |

Celebrimbor:Well, I actually think he is put there on purpose like... Maybe cause he is kinda strict sha. But watever d case may be... Remember, be calm even when he is shouting or making u feel embarrassed. I just dey smile when he sent me back twice, me wey be number 2 oga paulinus sent me back to 29... I was smiling and just trying to pull out the remaining photocopy he was complaining about... Then suddenly paulinus screams at the next 3 people and quiet suddenly ordered me wey be number 29 back to his very front... |

sojeokeowo2014:No sir, honestly u can't oh. To them it is not a valid identification. Try using either drivers license or a photocopy of his passport data page or any other valid id. Also note, they won't accept bank statement as a means of valid id. |
| Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Celebrimbor(m): 11:16pm On Jun 05, 2025 |
drizzt27:That is not being strict, it is just demeaning. Also, I agree with you that he serves their purpose, that is why he is still there. During my appointment, He treated Nigerians with german passports very differently from others. He was respectful and soft-spoken. |

Celebrimbor:Bro, I actually noticed that too. He jejely ushered them in and even was vexing why that other "corperate guard" no ask them which passports them get. Lol... This life sha |

Hello, thank you for your response. I was going through the thread as this is something my wife intends doing. Could you kindly share more details about the having to go to a second country and applying after 6 months? Not quite sure I understand. Any tips in general for those applying in 2025 would be really appreciated. Thank you. magnificient7: |
| Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by magnificient7: 7:13pm On Jun 18, 2025 |
KingThomas1:Not sure if I have much I sight to share. The appointment issue at the embassy is mostly a Nigerian thing, Moving to another African country (eg bukina babe) and staying there for six months qualifies you to apply for a reunion at that the country. |
