It’s funny how we begged for jobs and prayed for opportunities to prove ourselves, but now that we finally have them, we are giving them out to machines. I’m not against AI, but it’s like we are slowly pushing ourselves out of relevance.

Maybe it’s time to ask ourselves: are we growing with AI, or are we letting it grow in place of us?
Let’s not allow technology to make us useless. Use AI, but don’t lose your human intelligence.

Ok Smart Okorodudu. The OP is talking about present day AI everyday use and public availability but you’re busy taking us back to the 60s.

This is a funny statement. What year do you think “AI came into existence”? My first encounter with AI was in 2003, with the Russel Norvig book - Artificial Intelligence: A modern approach (2nd ed). And by then AI hadn’t just been in existence. Probably came into existence in the 60s with the Turing Test looking to evaluate how “intelligent” AI was.

I am just reading comments and laughing at some of them. Hmmm! It is when they have an interview with a company and they are told to live code and screen share, that's when they will know how far. If one becomes over reliant on a.i, during such live coding interviews, man! The fxck up will be great. Especially when the dev can't or no longer remembers how to write a basic for loop all because he is used to all these a.i tools.

Losing your job cos of AI means that you were not even good from the start.

Just like during the advent of computers, we used to hear that computers will take over people's jobs. Here we are still doing our jobs.

Driverless cars will not take job of drivers.
School teachers will not be out of job cos of AI.
Many programmers will still be needed irrespective of the presence of AI.

I have Reasoned this alot, since AI algorithm for now depends on other sources to generate responses. Then if we all depend on AI, after sometimes, AI may not have something new again except if the algorithm is changed

This is why I laughed when someone said AI will replace everyone except some specific IT fields, like Machine Learning. I think it was the former minister, Pantami. Bill Gates also said something similar.

AI will take like 80% of the job, and IT people will have less to do, so their skills will be worth less.

It's hands-on jobs that AI cannot replace, like construction, manufacturing, healthcare, etc, because that will require AGIs run on robots. How many of them will be made to replace the workforce, and what will it cost?

If politics and technology ever get along, government will be funding innovations that would get machines do everything for you. You just have to eat,play and sing/sleep.

It will lead to massive suicide and unhappiness. Work and self actualisation are as basic to human naturecas food and sex. Expression of creativity is a human need. When it happens people will start committing suicide anyhow. Humans can't cope with whatever thing tells them not to use their brain, work and actualize their potentials. In fact rich kids have that problem and that is why some rich kids actually leave home and fight for their money. You need to understand human psychology. This is a naive take , there's no way A.I would write original stories and screenplays in the likes of The Sopranos, Breaking Bad etc...There's no chance in hell of A.I replacing authentic original stories which is the hallmark of great Cinematic productions. AI is great, but it can never replace human originality and insight.

My guy, ai can finish the code faster than the best programmer. Not long ago, Microsoft laid off 2000 software engineers. Maybe you are using a free one, but paid ones do wonders. I subscribe for one, about N42,000 monthly, and this thing does wonders. It helps professionals to think in a deeper, more complex way.

In the next 20 years at mist, quantum computers will be commercially available. Quantum computers will need a new programming m language and so programmers will be needed again ad AI had to learn this programming language. There is even neutomorphoc computing comming up soon

Yeah, original thinkers will be rewarded in this age of AI. People with original ground breaking ideas will be rewarded. Ai needs data or it will stagnate

Try and be good at using Ai for work because there is no going back. My company encourages us to use Ai because of all the benefits especially the time taken to build product or solutions now much faster.
Recently I have been confidently taking side jobs to build clean websites for people just because I know Ai will do the heavy lifting. I can finish a normal static robust website within a week. Something that I would have done in 2 months at least or more. And also the websites are really good.
Just embrace it is my advice.

I think the best career any serious human need to venture into now is prompt engineering. Understanding and structuring how to prompt so as to get quality output. That is the Grey area IMHO..
