Kobojunkie:
If he loves his mom's cooking then tell him to pay his mother to cook for you all. She could cook in large quantities for you to store in the fridge or something. I am sure you have your hands busy enough with your professional cooking career to worry yourself about whether your food tastes exactly like his mom's or whether he complements you or not. I am certain you get more than enough of that from your customers, right? No need to make a big deal of his refusal to like or complement your cooking. undecided
Very bad advice. You are either not married, or haven't enjoyed marital bliss.

There is no compliment sweeter to a faithfully married person than that of the spouse. Even if she wins Guinness World Record for her "professional cooking," it will mean nothing without the accolades of her husband.

Charity begins at home. Unfortunately, hers started from abroad

Unfortunately, most women of nowadays
don't know how to cook
That’s the unfortunate truth, that’s how one girl cooked indomie for me, no taste. I dey ask myself how it’s possible for indomie to not have taste. The fried egg come dey salty 😂😂😂.

Sometimes, all a woman needs is to chill and know exactly what the husband loves and not just making assumptions and scoring herself high.

As good as you think your cooking skills are, give to your husband what he wants. Go and learn from your mother in-law; probably your husband is not the type who cherishes all those continental stuff. Give him what he wants. Are you not aware that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach? Wake up babe! Wake up 😎

Master Egusi, Ogbono and Vegetable, you’ll be fine.

If a man truly loves you, he will love you regardless of anything. Cooking is the first excuse he will use against you with other issues in time. I believe you are a very good cook, infact a professional. So, he's just using food as an excuse in a series of other things to come.
You may go to his mum to learn how to cook the way she does & he will still not appreciate your cooking.
So, just brace yourself for thing's to come & keep doing your best.

Greetings everyone. I am Mariana, a professional cook. I enjoy trying and cooking new dishes from various regions, such as Indian, Korean, American, and my personal favorite, Thai. I love cooking Thai Food, and my kids also love it, but my husband is different.

He absolutely hates any other food and adores his mom’s cooking. No matter how hard I try, he can never praise my cooking skills.

Does anyone else face similar problems, or am I being paranoid?
grin Go and learn his mom's cooking.
Recipes and all, then make that your main cooking for him.
Simple

Never try to compare yourself with a man's mother - in anything - you'll understand soon if you're a good mother to your kids. Leave his adoration of mum's food (he's had atleast 2+ decades cherishing it).

Secondly, not all men like the idea of travelling across the world in the dinning table - sometimes, a man just wants to eat eba - not Thai.

I'll suggest you talk it out with him - of all my experiments (cooking) which one do you like. Then do more of those, and if you have extra time, do the intercontinental dishes on weekends for you and the kids.

Even if you learn how to cook exactly like his mum, and even better - a mother's meal is more than the recipe.
Very sensible comment. I have been abroad for a while now. No day passes without my eba and ogbono/efo/egusi. grin

You need to form an alliance with your mother in law and learn to cook her meals like her too. If you unlock this opportunity, your husband will appreciate you in ways that will make you very happy and the bond will increase when his mum is gone but you're still feeding him food that tastes like hers.

I can't burden my partner the way your husband has but I'll silently worship the woman that chooses to cook my favourites the way my mum does. 😂

Most people are not seeing the problem...

The problem is not that he likes mom food over her wife, she is just saying it as a normal woman blackmail...

Trying to always make man d bad guy

The problem is... The try of food she cooks

If my wife cooks those type of food and my mom is nearby... Ofcus I will always run to Mom for good naija food

Is not that I like Mom's food over my wife but I love naija food

You should discuss with him and know what you're doing wrong. My ex add too much spice to food in her bid to make sumptuous meal and 8 out of 10 times I always find all sort of excuse not to touch her cooking. Talk to him about it not nairalanders

I will rather go and prepare food by myself and eat, while you call Reverend Father to join you with the Holy Commission you called food. grin

Rest and allow his mom do the cooking and learn from her
I would personally make it a lifelong learning
Life is not that difficult,we just like complicating issues for ourselves

You talk this way cos u are not a woman and probably not married. I am a guy though and i want you to know that there is a feeling of rejection on display here as someones husband prefers his mum food. Cooking is a skill and one of the pre-requisite for approval as a wife before getting married so if her husband scores her low on that, ofcourse she will feel bad. undecided

You expect a man brought up on oha, gbegiri,
ogbono and edikang-ikong, with pounded yam
eba and akpu, to suddenly switch to Thai &
Chinese noodles with frog legshuh

Instead of cooking what he loves, you are
cooking whay you like...

Better wake-up or we arrange a sidechick for
him, who will be cooking what he loves..
You have said it all. Giving someone what you love is different from giving someone what they love or will love. He obviously doesn't fancy the whole Thai thing. He can support your effort for doing but he is not obligated to like it. And besides, more than 80% of Nigerians will opt for Nigerian dish compared to any other dish irregardless of the feferity attached. And you are lucky he isn't interested in looking for one small Calabar girl to be cooking for him. You will be gone within 6months. Considering the fact that Nigerian restaurant is one of the most lucrative anywhere there is a large portion of us, gives you an idea that Nigerian men don't fancy foreign dishes that much.

Balderdash! If she had come in announcing to use that she has always been a terrible cook, would you have come up with this then too? Abeg! 🙄🙄🙄🙄

2. Abeg! Charity begins with you. When you accept and love yourself, you won't go around seeking validation or acceptance for what you have or know from others even those you are in relationship with. undecided

What do you expect. When you opted for speciality in new dishes from Indian, Korean, American and Thai instead of indigenous meals

His mother who does the local dishes and having your husband's attention is not a surprise. You are lucky is not another woman.

Better go and learn to cook his favourite meals from his mother and pipe low on this obsession Indian, Korea foods etc. We are not on Asia please.

Do you even bother to think how he feels having to resort to his own mother for food when he has you as a wife? That man must be enduring you

Not minding your clear attempt at covering the real issue. Burning can tell you that you are the problem. You are busy cookingKorean, American ,Indian and uour favorite food for a man who was raised with African food. The mum knows the food her son enjoys and the innocent man is contented with it. You can keep man Jupiter and Neptune food until another woman take over.

In the old golden days women cooked what their husband wanted not some kind of shadow hunt.

1. Rejection happens to every human being, and may a times every single day. OP knew this man did not appreciate her cooking skills and still went ahead with him implying acceptance of his disdain for her cooking. She shouldn't need to now have to break herself in order to get him to like her cooking. He already accepted her as-is. Attempting to seek validation and approval at this time is what has got her all wound up, as she admits in her OP. undecided

2. Yet, according to OP, her husband wifed her despite not liking her cooking? 🤔

3. She is feeling bad because she is getting rejected while seeking validation for a skill she does not need validation or approval for. If she stops seeking validation from him, she will stop feeling bad and case closed. 🤔

Go to the mum and learn from her!

Life's cool!
Don't mind her big head.
She's there claiming to be "Professional" cook.
Who asked you?
That's the source of her pride and downfall of her cooking.
-
Let roadside housegirl enter that house now, you will see wonders in that man's mouth.
Be there claiming "professional".

It's a simple matter, meet your mother-in-law to teach you how to cook your husband favourites. You may actually be good in Indonesia and all continental dishes. So long as your husband is not interested in all of them then, you have to resort to learning how to cook his favourites.
