Iran has launched a significant missile barrage on major cities across Israel, according to reports.

Nationwide alerts have been issued, with residents advised to seek shelter immediately, according to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

“At this time, the Air Force is working to intercept and attack wherever necessary to eliminate the threat,” the IDF said.

Photographs from Tel Aviv show thick smoke rising from affected areas, while missile strikes have also been reported in the southern Negev region and the northern city of Haifa.

At least two people are reported to have been injured in the attacks.

Police have confirmed the impact of some missiles, but as of yet, the sites have not been officially confirmed.

Emergency services remain on high alert.
