President Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment To Infrastructure Development by CapitalLens(op): 9:24am On Jun 21, 2025
...AS HE COMMISSIONS ARTERIAL ROAD N5 IN ABUJA

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Federal Government to developing critical infrastructure aimed at improving the quality of life for all Nigerians.

The President made these remarks during the commissioning of the newly constructed Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way), stretching from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road 3, in Abuja.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, President Tinubu described the Arterial Road N5 as "more than just a road," emphasizing that it symbolizes "progress, connectivity, and renewed hope" for residents.

The President highlighted that this vital artery is expected to significantly enhance mobility, alleviate traffic congestion, and stimulate economic activity within the FCT.

"This project is a testament to what we can achieve when vision meets action. It reflects our administration’s commitment to delivering modern infrastructure that improves the daily lives of our people". He further commended the FCT Administration and all stakeholders for their dedication in bringing the project to fruition, urging citizens to utilize and protect the new road responsibly”.

Speaking earlier, the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for his personal commitment to the FCT's development.

He clarified that while the project was awarded in September last year and flagged off in October, what was being commissioned is the first phase from Life Camp Junction to Dape District.

Barrister Wike assured that the second phase, which extends to Ring Road 3 and eventually to the airport road, is slated for completion before the end of the year, adding that discussions regarding compensation for affected communities was ongoing.

Recounting a significant challenge faced during the project's execution concerning compensation for residents whose homes were impacted, the FCT Minister firmly stated that his administration's policy under President Tinubu, was to ensure that all residents with houses in the area, regardless of their indigenous status, received fair compensation.

"It is not under this administration of President Tinubu that somebody is living in his house and we want to bring this house down, and you say you are not going to pay compensation because he is not an indigene. I said no, that is not what we should allow. And I directed that all of them who have houses here must be paid. And they were paid", Barrister Wike asserted.

The Minister also lauded Julius Berger Plc, the contractor, for their exemplary work and timely completion of the project, noting an improved confidence among contractors in the FCT.

Addressing critics, the Minister emphasized the undeniable benefits of the project, saying "Anybody who lives in Abuja, anybody who has been coming to Abuja and trying to pass this road, you should appreciate a good thing, regardless of who is in charge of it. A Good thing is a good thing".

He added that the extensive landscaping and overall beauty of the area were clear indicators of President Tinubu's positive impact on the FCT.

Barr. Wike further extended appreciation to the National Assembly for their consistent support and the residents for their understanding during the development process, acknowledging the inevitable challenges that come with urban growth. The Minister also thanked his team, led by the Chief of Staff, for their tireless efforts.

Providing a technical background, the Acting Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, explained that Arterial Road N5 is a crucial inter-district road traversing several districts within the city.

He detailed that the road, originating from the Central Business District near the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, passes through Wuse District (Phase 1), Utako and Jabi Districts (Phase 2), and extends to Gwarimpa and Dape Districts (Phase 3).

Engr. Dauda confirmed that Phases 1 and 2 of the road were fully developed, with the current commissioned project representing the Phase 3 segment from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road 3. He highlighted that Arterial Road N5 is a six-lane dual carriageway with an additional parking lane, making it an eight-lane facility.

The construction, he said, incorporates comprehensive engineering infrastructure, including underground surface water drainage, culverts, sewer systems, water supply pipelines, telecommunication ducts, street lighting, and walkways.

"The completion of this project will open up the area for development, improve circulation and interconnection within the adjoining Districts of Phase 3, which is Dape, Gwarimpa I, Idu and Mbora Districts. It will improve and enhance socio-economic lives of the residents, in addition to other numerous benefits", Engr. Dauda added.

Wike is doing a good job in Abuja.
Personally i will take this man as president. He has the balls to do a lot and the political will to take on those Hausa/Fulani politicians and leaders as well as their southern cohorts who feel the country is their personal estate.

More airports highways and flyovers loading. At a time we cannot process raw materials into finished goods to employ the ever-increasing labour force.

It’s good to see infrastructure being completed, and residents benefiting directly, but let’s not clap too fast. For every Arterial Road N5 completed in Abuja, there are ten abandoned or unstarted roads across Nigeria.

We need this same urgency in the East, in the North, in rural communities. We need education and health infrastructure with the same speed. Let this not be a ‘city shine’ PR moment, governance must be holistic, not selective.

There's food, go and work and make money. Construction, farming on-going EVERYWHERE; state and Federal Government. You're waiting for government to come and knock your door and give you food, NO SANE GOVERNMENT will do that. It like trying to ENCOURAGE LAZINESS and discourage people from working. America, Russia, China were not built on Laziness. You dont work in SANE COUNTRIES, YOU'LL SLEEP ON THE STREETS IN THE COLD.

Focus and CONTINUITY is what brought Lagos to where it is currently. For the first time in many years, massive constructions is going on in ALL PARTS OF NIGERIA. You can never compare Asiwaju with any of the clowns that want to become president. Let them bring their achievements and lets put it side by side with Asiwaju's own. Its only clueless people whose destiny is ROOTED TO POVERTY that will vote obi and Atiku. Go and read about how Tinubu built Lekki Free Trade Zone LFTZ, ALARO CITY, Eko Atlantic City. Tinubu is currently the only focused politician in Nigeria and thats why NOTABLE POLITICIANS are rushing to join him in APC.

You don't have to apologise, we go in 2027 again. I didn't vote at all in 2023 but I will mobilise and vote for TINUBU in 2027.

People are wisening up and not falling for Obi and Hell-rufai's cheap talks. More powerful and intelligent nigerians will move to APC by 2026.
