This is so sad. Medicine is a very expensive course to pursue.

He shouldn't have kept the problem to himself. I am certain if he told his classmates and they informed their parents, one or two parents may decide to sponsor the rest of his education.

The problem here isn't that he could not afford his fees. The problem here is not asking for help from the right people.
You speak as if you don't know the world and country we live in, who are the right people to ask for help, those parents you mentioned might be struggling to see their own children through school, I am also a victim to this story, We're all praying for a divine help if at all such things exist.

U just said it all
Life is just on it's own track
And very unpredictable.

Life just dey like football match
Wey no body knows d next three players to touch the ball next
quote author=Sirmwill post=135834479]Well
Well
Well
Life is really not complicated
No one has actually made it and no one is making it
Everyone is just trying to survive at every level of life.
Especially,no one knows what could have happened, what is happening and what would happen
The Hawker could have wished he never graduated
The Doctor may later wish he never became a Doctor(I pray never)
The Hawker could later be grateful he started hawking.
The Doctor may later be grateful to God that he became a Doctor.
The Hawker may later wish he Graduated.
The Doctor may later wish he dropped out and became a Hawker.

This is Life.
At least for the average alive person[/quote]

Nawa for your school! In my school, you can’t drop out at 500 level and no one will ask about you unless your grades were poor that’s when you won’t be noticed
You are totally correct
This happens in this era of social media?
This happens in this era of crowd funding abi what do you people call it?

Truth is , though Nigeria is bad, one thing anyone cannot deny is that Nigerians are generous even to a fault on issues like this .

Alaye did not tell his friend the real truth.

The Church is there .
The Mosque is there.
Different religious groups will help.

Take stories like this with a bag of salt.

That's the really annoying thing. Remember that time Emefiele changed currency, people were carrying several barrows of 1000 naira notes to the bank!

see life as a programmed video game where the characters are expected to act a certain role, but also have that inherent choice to act out of script.judas was programmed to betray Jesus, but could also have opted out of that betrayal role which he chose not.

Yeah that's why I say if you have parents that supports you up to university level my brother be thankful to them and appreciate them very well , many people never got the privilege, I remember when I was still in level 100 , there is this guy studying law , his father is a foam manufacturing big man with different properties in this country, all he wanted is for his son to go study law then take over his companies do you know that this guy was involved with cult activities to a point the university expelled him , this is someone that has a rich father , then he lived a big self contained apartment well furnished but he messed up the opportunity, us way no get got dropped out that's life .

We are all entitled to our opinion my friend.

One thing I can vouch for is that A 500 LEVEL MEDICAL STUDENT WITH A GENUINE FINANCIAL NEED WILL NOT DROP OUT IN THE PRESENT DAY NIGERIA.

The greediest religious leader irrespective of the religion will NOT DISCARD the genuine need of a 500 level medical student member

I insist, Nigerians are generous people.

Perhaps they are impersonating lawyers. However , if they are qualified lawyers, the ethics of the profession frowns at such behavior.

A lawyer could be de-robed if found guilty of such malpractice.

Sorry about such horrible experience. Hopefully you meet a cool headed lawyer with integrity someday.

I highly doubt this
500 level and dropping out?!
Most medical students have this support base you can always count on no matter what.
Remember during my days as a medical student, no matter how tough things are, Muslim student society and Fellowship of Nigerian medical student always come to people's aid.
They have patrons who will pay your school fees if your matter is escalated to them.
I know several rich kids who helped their friends pay school fees multiple times.
For a student to drop out in 500 level due to school fee? E go hard.

So sad. Some of us who never had to think about school fees never knew how lucky we were...
Nigerian doctor shares a recent encounter with an ex-classmate of his from medical school who now hawks things to make a living.
The doctor identified as Dr. Cheta took to Facebook to reveal that from their chat, the ex-classmate had revealed that he had been the one sponsoring his own medical education.
However, he had to drop out at 500 level since he couldn’t afford to continue paying his fees, and had no support from anyone.

His words …

We are all actors and spectators in the grand scheme of things.

However, if he's determined enough, he can use that hawking to leapfrog into BETTER income generation opportunities and get right back into Medical School or apply for the Nelfund student loans program
that a lot of professionals and younger people here are talking about and have endorsed.

The guy that weed my plot of land when I want to build my house is a millionaire today. My house cannot stand beside his mansion and fleet of cars.

Nigeria is a land of possibilities.
A wretched hawker can wake up tomorrow morning and buy you and your hospital
That's a very deep post you made right ABOVE... Assuming his source of money is legit and verifiable because some criminals are into all kinds of crimes and make unclean money from hard drugs trafficking, armed robberies, kidnappings, etc, which they pass off as legit income to the undiscerning folks out there. Indeed, money is made in times of chaos and uncertainties which provide unlimited legit opportunities.

In summary, Nigeria and many countries of the world have problems that savvy-entrepreneurs can monetize by solving those problems in times of economic downturns or chaos. People with disposable income are willing to pay for solutions to their problems in many areas of life. Period.

What do u think could av gone wrong.. an average medical student is a fighter. Its either he or she had mental health issues..this is very common from what I av seen firsthand.

Sometimes people just want to trend by telling lies. Someone that has little support from others and also added his own support was able to get to 500 level before dropping out of school but couldn't raise small money to do better business than hawking sachet waterhuh? Please it doesn't add up biko, this is pure lies and attention seeking. If it's truth u will definitely have a picture of him or video of him with u on ur post and trust me I no my 9ja people, they will act positively and change him.

You are even mild by saying " e go hard". My own position is, in this present day Nigeria, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE .

A simple crowd funding will solve the problem.

Can this be true? To drop out at 500level? I used to teach in private schools around Jakande Estate Isolo during my undergraduate days. I lost my dad in yr1-1st semester and mum got retired same year. Thursdays and Fridays were my teaching days and I couldn't go to school cos I had to go teach to get funds to transport myself and also feed for the following week (Monday - Wednesday), I was off-campus.
I know it would be really hard but to have survived till 500level and then drop out is unbelievable.
I knew quite some people who were self trained/self-sponsored and even did better than me.
I knew of a guy who was an orphan and was self-sponsored but was very disciplined and determined that he made 1st class. This was all in a federal university in Lagos.
