Can I be arrested for this? by Prophit(op): 8:45pm On Jun 21, 2025
I bought a new MTN line 2 weeks ago.

Prior to this, I had only one mtn line. So I bought another one making it 2.

So today I had issues with my KUDA account, and I needed to give a number linked to my NIN. I gave my first MTN line. But they said it was not linked to my NIN.

This was a shock. I asked the customer care rep to check again, and they did. It was the same response.

I gave my new line, but they couldn't use it since it was very new.

I then decided to check if my first MTN is linked to my NIN

Lo and behold it was not.

But the second/new line was.

That is not even the craziest part.

I found 3 other numbers linked to my NIN.

Numbers I don't know about.

Ahhhh.

When did I have 4 MTN lines that I don't know about.

So first question, how do I unlink those strange numbers? Someone please help.

Secondly, can I get arrested if anyone using the other numbers commit a crime and the number is traced?

Unlink the unknown numbers. That's the solution.

How can I unlink?

Go to mtn office, tell them you want to unlink with list of the numbers. I unlink every now and then to buy mtn mifi.

Your best bet is to go to MTN office to unlink the numbers that don't belong to you

This is the handiwork of those roadside telecoms vendors.

When they use loudspeakers to invite you to buy, register and activate your sim immediately, this is exactly what they do.

They link unknown persons Nin to others sim cards.
Re: Can I be arrested for this? by pointblank247(m): 8:40am On Jun 22, 2025
It can lead to anything including death sentence depending on the crimes linked to the linked numbers
Re: Can I be arrested for this? by Rexymania(m): 9:26am On Jun 22, 2025
This is what they did when they started linking NIN with our line. Anyway, report yourself to any nearest MTN closest to you
Re: Can I be arrested for this? by justmatiu: 9:33am On Jun 22, 2025
just download the nimc mobile apk from playstore and report those number via tha app.
Re: Can I be arrested for this? by Obviouslyblunt: 9:51am On Jun 22, 2025
This is why you should never buy and register your sim card from all these roadside sellers. They’ll use your NIN to do other sim registrations. Buy from direct known outlets.

ANS: Call 300 on your MTN line

Secondly, can I get arrested if anyone using the other numbers commit a crime and the number is traced?
ANS: If it is established in the Court of law that you committed the crime, you'll do the time, but meanwhile you will be detained for criminal investigation.

Unlink the unknown numbers and if you can lodge a complaint for future.

Because if those numbers are used for criminal activities and are traced to your Nin, it could lead to your arrest

How do NIN allow random numbers to be assigned without the owner's permission
Re: Can I be arrested for this? by foxxydude: 2:08pm On Jun 22, 2025
Dial *344#
Select 5 for Parent/Child Link.
Select 6 for Unlink number.
Select the number to unlink.
Then you will receive a notification confirming the line has been un-linked.

Go to mtn office to unlink them.. Someone took Ur nin carelessly, probably in a cyberspace and registered numbers for others most likely.. Those guys registering along the markets uses it to register and sell to under 18yrs old boys..This I have witnessed in the market..They sell already registered Sims upon request.!!!
Sort it out, just for safety reasons.
Re: Can I be arrested for this? by uncleck: 3:20pm On Jun 22, 2025
Go to MTN headquarters in your state, they can unlink them. And yes, you can be arrested if any of the lines are used to commit crime. There's NIN racketeering going on across the country. So always check your NIN to be sure...
Re: Can I be arrested for this? by Nnewison: 3:23pm On Jun 22, 2025
Go to mtn office and tell them the numbers you want to be unlinked they will gladly do it
