If I am a police officer, and am being paid what they are paid today, and I know what they get paid after retirement, I would be the post corrupt human being on earth. Their pay absolutely justifies their corruption. You can’t be this wicked to your civil servants and still expect them to maintain professionalism

Nigerians paid this man on highway everyday for 35 years but he refused to save. They made as high as 100k on the road everyday but brewery is their customer.

He retired in 2023 and had not received anything till a few weeks ago. 1m was paid as arrears and 2m paid as accumulated pension. He said the accumulated pension paid was even incomplete.

What level did he get employed? What was his take home then , before the commencement of the new contributory pension of 2007 , what level was he as at 2007 ? His earned benefit might be that low because of poor wages for the 17 years before the new pension law ,he should approach his pfa for the remaining balance of his contributory pension from 2007-date . Possibly he must have been in the lowest cader by 2007 why he may have a lower earned benefit but his pfa should have More funds for him.

What a shame that a young man like you made such a disgraceful comment. Would you have said this if he was your family member or very close to you?
Do you know what it means to serve your country for such length of time, without getting the right reward. Is it not proper to first ask about the amount that officers of different cadres are paid? Did he get the right amount? Was he shortchanged by someone or people in the Police pension’s office. It is not even out of place to ask if he took out a loan during his period of service that needed to be deducted in the end.

Such a forum like this should not give opportunities for people to show such level of insensitivity. The man’s face said it all. He was holding back tears, as he was totally disappointed at what he saw. Sometimes we must learn to have patience to understand the grief or pain of other people, before rushing to make such careless comments.

Let the bribe they took compensate for their retirement benefits. They have settled themselves in a corny way before retirement. Whatever a man sows ,he will surely reap.

it will be disgraceful to someone that has not worked in any organization in your life,to make you sound they way you can think you don’t know that gratuity is calculated based on the salary level you attained before retirement.how can someone be sounding as if he was discriminated or they paid some people in the same cader different gratuity.so because he worked for 35yrars they should give him 100billion.enlighten your self by making a research on how gratuity,an average person should be able to calculate his expected gratuity estimate.

At the end, they get paid about 40k as monthly stipend. This 40k payment stops immediately they die. Police officers; especially the ranks and file are suffering in Nigeria.

Gratuity is different from pensions. The Police has its independent pension fund managers and I am sure he is already enrolled and must have been receiving updates on the fat sum in his retirement pension account.

Do not be deceived, this is not his total package after retirement. He may get himself into trouble with this.

Most of them, in the past, when paid all at once, will go spend it lavishly especially on young new wives, back to penury that police lifted some of them from and start using their security training and information to aid criminals and terrorists, so to reduce such problems Federal government started helping them by releasing it in batches of lump sum.

You're contradicting yourself while confirming my assertion that gratuity is not the total amount this retiring SP will receive.

If I take your example and a lower rank gets N40k every month and lives for 25 years after retirement, that's N12 million if the pension is fixed but it's not fixed but usually goes up.
Finally, do you understand how the contributory pension works? I doubt if you do
