Am not an expert on this, but from my limited research there is a difference between ballistic missiles and True hypersonic missiles. Ballistic missiles fly at hypersonic speed outer space and renters the atmosphere. True hypersonic missiles fly in the atmosphere and generate a plasma shield. This is why Putin said in a speech that oreshknik missiles move at hypersonic speed withstanding heat of about 4000 degrees. That’s why he said it’s a breakthrough technology in material science. At that temperature it’ll cut the mountain like butter. The factory it destroyed in Ukraine was built by ussr to withstand a nuclear blast because it’s buried underground. This is why if you watch the oreshnik video you just see a plasma glow dropping while in the promised land you see a very fast fire dropping down.
