Life Abroad With $5,000 ‘Beats’ N30m In Nigeria, Claims Tiktoker by Great100000(op): 6:54pm On Jun 23, 2025
Nigerian lifestyle content creator Eleanya Ucheya asserts that life abroad is superior with just $5,000 compared to having N30m in Nigeria.

He argues that the Nigerian economy’s instability puts greater pressure on N30m, making it vanish quickly, while $5,000 retains more value overseas even with inflation.

Ucheya shared these views in a recent TikTok video sighted by PUNCH Online on Sunday.

Ucheya identified insecurity, poor policies and multiple taxation as some of the issues that contribute to the decline of the naira value.

He said, “One bad policy can just bring your money down. I am not even talking about insecurity, which can destabilise you. Even as a business person, maybe you have N30 milllion, do you know that one fire outbreak can reduce you to nothing because no insurance.

“That person with $5,000 abroad can use that money to buy the latest car, he might just deposit maybe $1,000. He can buy on loan or lease, maybe in three years time, he takes the car back to them, he’ll just be paying small money.

“But that your N30million, may be you’re a businessman, tomorrow state will come for one tax, local government is coming, agbero is coming, police on the road is coming. Even if you want to pay for your child school fees from the money, after paying for the school, you pay for lesson teacher that will still come to your house and eat.”

Ucheya’s submissions sparked an argument on TikTok as many agreed with him, while others opposed his claim, saying N30m can set up one for life in Nigeria if managed well.

That’s the difference between living in a place with working systems and one where everything feels like a constant hustle. In countries like Canada, the US, or the UK, your money actually works for you, there is structure, stability, and access to credit. You can plan, invest, and grow without being drained by random, unofficial charges or harassment.

But in Nigeria, even with millions, you’re constantly firefighting, insecurity, poor infrastructure, and unnecessary stress. It’s not about how much you have, it’s about what systems exist to support you. That’s what makes life abroad feel more manageable and productive.

Being a kidnap victim in port harcourt , and I was doing very well in Nigeria but I still left the country last year and I don’t regret it . I even wish I left Nigeria earlier . I am building a life here gradually and I can tell you that it gets better everyday cos I left legally and following processes . Currently In school to get the required certifications to earn better hourly pay and I will finish these courses soon . I already working in the field but they are waiting for my completion to offer a permanent position.

I can pick up a 2024 car today and pay Bi-weekly , but that I will do after school . Life na jeje.
I have access to free healthcare .
Kids don’t pay tuition .
Quality of life for family .
The advantages are endless . You can only understand it better if you get a chance to legally leave Nigeria to a good country and have the right skill or be ready to go back to school for it . You will be grateful for that decision .
I love Nigeria but the country lacks systems and basic infrastructure for survival or decent living .
