I've been pondering about the same question for the last few weeks but on broader African continent-wide scale.

Well, the answer to your question is no. Whatever, we'll have if we do, would be so outdated that it should be in a museum.

Nigerian air defence system are typically short range gun-based defence system like the shilka.

To optimally use a missile-based defence system, you need very good radar networks/coverage as missile based systems work beyond visual range and rely extensively on the radar network to hit its target.

Also, Nigeria lacks the skilled technicians required to maintain such complex systems.

How can have something like that when cow life is more important than humans?

For them to reach: there have to be different countries they will stop for refueling then take off again till they arrive at the designated destination.


If those other countries don't permit them to land and refill their tanks, they can't make it.


It's not possible for missiles to fly from Israel or Iran to Nigeria

The tanks carrying the missiles needs refueling.

There's what we call long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) It can be fired from Israel to Nigeria, except there's an air defence in any of the country that the missile is gonna pass through to neutralise it

Nigeria does not have the radar network and coverage required to support missile based air defence systems.

Our AD systems are primarily gun based ones like Shilka. Would only work for low flyingg objects within the visual range of the operator

I think the politicians might not be willing to approve huge funds for procurement of advanced air defence systems when the proposals are made. Defence expenditure no be joke! What do you think?

Simple answer:NO!

Nigeria does not have any single air defense system. Nigeria does NOT even have bunkers or air raid shelters for citizens during such events like this.

Strategically For now, we do not need it and if we have gotten it, it would have been OBSOLETE by the time it is needed!

Nigeria has mechanism to intercept spiritual missiles and devilish arrows fired by village people. The mechanism is usually activated via mid night prayers and it can make the airways unfavourable for those that fly spiritually at night.

You guys don’t rate your country at all. Nigeria is actually the 3rd ranking military power in Africa and the 33rd in the world. If no be corruption and tribalism Nija no small at all. We have the resources to be a top 10 global superpower but we Dey underachieve because of tribalism
