I often notice most churches Pray Loudly while playing music or drums in the background. Speaking fast incomprehensible words widely referred to as speaking in tongues . Which is in clear contrast with Jesus words concerning How to Pray Lets see the book of Matthew 5 :5 - 7 5 “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. 7 In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. |

can you please define what prayer is before we star arguing |

in matthew 5:7 Jesus explicitly warns christians not to babble like the pagans during prayer. Let us take a look at the meaning of the word babble 1. the action or fact of talking rapidly and continuously in a foolish, excited, or incomprehensible way. Is it possible that this was same speaking in tongues the apostles exhibited? Obviously not |

Be wary of those who say they are Christians but refuse to use the as bible as a yardstick. They get irritated the moment they see that they actually mold thier life not based on Christ exemplary actions and teachings. BUT SOLELY ON WHATEVER THERE PASTORS SAY |

Also, when you pray, do not act like the hypocrites, for they like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the main streets to be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret. Then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. When praying, do not say the same things over and over again as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. So do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need even before you ask him. Matthew 6:5-8 Above is what the founder of Christianity said so what do you think about people claiming they are his followers but doing what is contrary? Matthew 15:7-9 |

Perhaps there is an answer for doing the direct opposite. i'm waiting for the reasons to justify the act of praying with music and drums. We learn everyday ![]() |

Mshad662:I feel u are taking context wrongly .... When Jesus said turn the other cheek when they slap you, he ddnt literally mean turn the other cheek for u to keep getting hurt....and he certainly ddnt mean go and enter inside cupboard before you can pray.... ![]() The same Jesus prayed many times in public and even prayed with his disciples in a garden, where he faulted them for not being able to pray for an hour as they all slept off..... As for praying loud, this is a relative term..a person is can pray as audible or as quiet as they wish as long as their aim is not to show off or seek validation of men like the Pharisees which was Jesus' warning.... Lastly, why would you say someone's prayer is incomprehensible?..are u the one he's praying to? .the God he or she is praying to hears what the heart is saying at the end of the day |

advanceDNA:When you said Jesus prayed publicly, we all heard his prayer. So it is indeed a point that when the public hear you praying, your prayer must be comprehensible. |

Mshad662:Don't the music and drums aid in the prayer? Though I think it depends on the Spirit, time and type of prayer which determines the mood whether it is ok or silence would have been better. However, since the preachings these days are horribly wrong every activity follows suit. |

Dtruthspeaker:If you want to speak to your parents or someone you hold in high esteem like your boss can you speak to them while playing music simultaneously, i doubt you can as its a sign of disrespect . Why then should it be different for the Creator of Heaven and Earth , The owner of our life. Does it show respect? |

Mshad662:..I sincerely don't know what's going on here.... If I wanna guess, I'd say they are singing, and jumping around in order to create public awareness for a upcoming activity ..but I'm not sure since it's just a pic.. |

Dtruthspeaker:Lets put this in real life perspective.....which public is hearing you ?? Does anyone really go into public like market, bus stop and pray in ways pple can't comprehend ?? Me I have not seen such... And if u are referring to church settings... each person is praying to God and not for anyone to listen to....because technically church gathering isn't a public place like a market or city center where Pharisees show off like pple Jesus warned it's a private gathering of saint but only bigger because the populations have grown and pple need bigger places to gather to pray and share the communion... |

advanceDNA:We may not be directly listening to the prayer the persons around us are saying however, we still hear and know the sound of their prayer. But however, when the pastor coordinating the activities is praying, he is the one leading and carrying everyone along so, everyone is listening out to him especially as sometimes we may still be praying when he changes the course of the prayer and as you know people stop and follow the new direction. So, the pastor's leading must be comprehensible. And I think that he is referring more to the pastor's ble ble ble and strange speech than the congregation's prayer things |

Mshad662:Like I said, it depends on the Spirit. In our house parties we still speak with our esteemed parents and those we reverence even though music is playing in the background. Sometimes the musical background is really nice and permissible but it depends on the mood, time and Spirit. |

Dtruthspeaker:I'm not sure how I will go to church and prayer is going on and I will be hearing other people's prayer while I'm focused on God?? It has not happened to me before...so I don't really get what you are saying.... Dtruthspeaker:of course..the pastor or prayer lead is comprehensible...if he's not..how did u hear the prayer point he started with for you to pray as well....?? At some point he himself switches to praying between himself and God after guiding....and later switch back to directing the prayer flow, to a stop to manage time or to, perhaps introduce another prayer point... At least that's how I know it happens |

In true Christianity we only pray together for the Holy Spirit to guide and lead us in doing the work Jesus assigned to us {Matthew 28:19-20; Act 1:8} but when it comes to individual requests such is not mentioned at all in the gathering of true Christians each person must do that in his privacy! Matthew 6:6 |

The Jesus christ they are worshipping today is not a historical person but a Roman empire invented idol. So churches are worshiping Ifa with loud noise and not the True God. These are some of the real Jesus' in the first century below: Jesus, son of Sapphias (Rebel Leader) Mentioned in: The Jewish War, Book 2. This Jesus did lead an attack on Romans, and here are the details: Jesus was one of the chief rebels in Tiberias, a city in Galilee. He led a group of fishermen and poor people who plundered the palace of Herod the Tetrarch during the early stages of the First Jewish-Roman War (66–70 CE). He and his men destroyed property and took control of parts of the city. Josephus, who was then a commander of Jewish forces in Galilee, was sent to negotiate or subdue them. Jesus ben Ananias: Jesus ben Ananias was a Jewish peasant who, around 62 CE, began loudly prophesying the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. For over seven years, he wandered the city crying, "Woe to Jerusalem!" Despite being beaten and tortured by Roman authorities, he never changed his message. During the Roman siege in 70 CE, he shouted, "Woe to me also!" just before being killed by a stone from a Roman catapult. Josephus saw him as a mad yet eerily accurate doomsday prophet. |

Just African penterascal invention. These displays do not add to efficacy of prayer. Unlike maximumSide remarked earlier,, there is no evidence that God does not answer congregational or any prayers not said behind closed doors. In prayers, answers are more important than modes. |
