It is called balut .
It is fertilized duck egg (embryos), usually incubated for a period of about 17-21 days, before it is cooked.

A popular street food, commonly eaten (with salt) in the Philippines.
It is high in protein.

To eat, the top of the egg is gently cracked and peeled a bit, the broth inside slurped up, then the rest of egg peeled and eaten (its entire content).

I got to know about it through a Filipino series I watched sometime ago.

So, can you dare to eat balut?
What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?

Balut... Duck eggs fertilized for 17-21 days then eaten. Whoever came up with this Balut cuisine back in the day MUST have been desperately hungry or something.

"A popular street food eaten largely in Southeast Asian countries such as Philippines, Cambodia, and Vietnam."

I do NOT have an appetite for this kind of cuisine tbh.

I don't like tasting strange things I'm NOT familiar with or things that haven't been personally recommended to me by a trusted reviewer. I almost tasted sushi a couple of years back while in a Jap restaurant but had to let go. The thought of simply eating "raw fish" didn't resonate with my brain cells. Even in Japan where sushi is traditionally from, folks there have experienced food poisoning from eating sushi made from raw fish!

Those philipians can eat rubbish, I once watched a documentary where they pick leftovers from entries and take home to refry and sell to people to eat and they even have a name for it, I just wanted to vomit 🤮

Honestly, in my opinion, that should be considered animal cruelty.

I don't know what hunger will make me eat baby animals.
but you eat parent animals its thesame thing you consume a life

Nutritional value will be good.

But taste, aesthetics and the thought of eating that will not let it sit in my stomach. Even my conscience will bother me with accusing thoughts of Animal Cruelty.

Let me narrates my experience the day I unknowingly are it. I live and work in Vietnam and knows about this egg.
On a faithful day, my boss invited me over to his house to have dinner with his family. While we where eating, he gave me an egg. I took a bite of the yoke (Then I didn't know about such egg). As I took the first bite, the yoke was hard as against the normal egg I know.
I then took another bite and it taste differently from other eggs and something wasn't right. I then asked him what kind of egg is this, he told me it's fertilized duck egg and that it was proteinous and medicinal.
I quickly used a serviette and vomit what was in my mouth. I have to rinse my mouth before going back to the dinner table. He was apologetic and after then he never serve that egg when we have lunch or dinner together.
My Ghanaian friend also had similar experience.

Why U dey do like this na. That thing brought dirty memories of some useless areas and junctions in old Benin city where U mistakenly pass those sacrifices and the awful smell. It's already almost 5pm I probably will not eat again today except I forget it.

Yes I am based in the Philippines, beef kare kare is my favourite food , followed by , chicken curry , and chicken adobo or pork adobo , beef bistic Tagalog and pork , Philippines has a lot of good food, but be careful of sugar and vinegar and soy sauce , most of their foods are heavily laced with it .

Lol Ur just intentionally being mischievous abi. There's a nasty game we use to play as kids. Me and all my brothers. It's things like these that we see on the road side, anything we witnessed together that's irritating. We keep it inside until it's time to eat any meal. My immediate elder bro is the worst. He will describe it like the thing is right next to Ur food and no matter the hunger U can't eat anymore. Got to a point we started hiding to eat out food for fear of his games. You're just reminding me of him right now.

I wish the bold was true about me I would so love it. If U so much as scratch Ur nose near me while I'm not even eating U done enemy 💯

Hahahahahaha

Does he do that to get to keep the food?

It seems you're not that much of a foodie, because it'll take a lot more than that to get most guys to give up eating. cheesy
