Nigeria is an unserious nation. They denied them of their benefits for decades
Yes na, even 16; years of PDP didn't bother to attend to them. So shameful.

Tinubu make things happen.

Forget the north trying to frustrate him.

Wat did Buhari do aside 3 roads with heavy loan. And there tollgates on some of the roads. For 8year.

Leave sentiment aside, Tinubu is doing well in 2 years

Many broke footballers can now smile.

I hope Taribo West name is there. He really needs it.
Unfortunately he wasn't among the 94 set. But Taribo is not broke currently

He didn't...those two were popular

Five players from Nigeria's 1994 World Cup squad have passed away: Rashidi Yekini, Stephen Keshi, Uche Okafor, Thompson Oliha, and Wilfred Agbonavbare.

Rashidi Yekini didn't die bcus of poverty. Yekini was a recluse and an introvert who refused anyone helping him during his time of travails.
Before he died, he lived in his own house in Ibadan, and still own houses in Kaduna where he grew up. I rmbr he shunned coming to collect #1m from Guinness as part of Super Eagles all time 11. Which I heard his daughter later came to collect.
Depression was part of what killed Yekini.
Re: FG Finally Redeems House Pledge To ’94 Eagles by correctyourself(m):
The best team Nigeria ever had, after that team others has been struggling.

This is the team that would have wone us wold cup USA 94. Unfortunately it couldn't come to Nigeria.

When would Nigeria have such team again? Look at how matured they're then? these days you see too young football in our team which is not really good, see ziden, Henry and Drogba.

Tis is where we're missing it, those children we parade as S/Eagles with less stamina and experience should stop,

We need to encourage our players and nurture them to play for a long time upto 45years. Then we can think of winning world cup.

are you not tired of wailing?
Tinubu is trying to right the wrongs of the past leaders through this gesture. Same thing he is doing with the accrued pension benefit for federal retirees under the CPS whose accrued benefits date back to pre 2004.

It is important to criticise but can you do so like someone with a brain?

Past leaders (both military and civilian) didn't prioritise the need to redeem their pledge but here we have someone who is trying to do the right thing, yet agenda must agend for wailers.

Let's criticise government where they are failing and appreciate them where they are getting it right. Perpetual complaining in all situation (good or bad) is actually a mental illness.
Are you not tired of worshipping your oppressors and glorifying corrupt thieves and bandits in government? ? ? ? ?

The problem I see here is the attempt to praise BAT for this. He probably knows nothing of it.

It's too desperate of you guys, you know how bad this government is, and so when you see the slightest thing which is normal process in government you start heaping praises on BAT.

Yekini wasn't poor when he died. He had a psyco / depression

Giving alms to the poor, secluded himself from family n friends

I don't know him personally, but he has a church both here in Nigeria and in Italy. He has houses in Ikeja and in Italy too. I don't know about his businesses which I believe he will have also. The last time I saw him at Brila fm studio, he came with one of the latest Benz which I can't rmbr the exact one.
He was oozing money all over him if you understand what I mean

May we not labour and not eat the fruit of labours. Yekini's daughter is likely the person who will take possession of the house on behalf of her father and Keshi's children will do the same.

But Nigeria ... It took them a whole 31 YEARS to fulfill a pledge?? What a shame

Lol, BAT knows nothing of it, so who approved it, your dad? cheesy

The HM Housing or even FCT Minister reports to who? Your uncle? Oh, I forgot, must be Peter Obi.

Let me guess again, Peter Obi is not an oppressor, a bandit nor corrupt thief. He is an angel from heaven. Please abeg.

Nobody is worshipping anybody here, at least not for me. Ask me about insecurity, and I will tell you this government isn't any better than Buhari's or Jonathan's. I don't praise blindly.

This post reveals everything I suspected. You don't know anything about how government works. If you think it's everything that gets to the Presidents desk then you don't know anything at all.

Secondly you have revealed yourself. I can't stand people who, without even knowing another person's political stance, will just start talking about Peter Obi once the govt is criticized. How do you know I am not an Atiku or even Sowore supporter. It's very tiresome and pitiful the way you guys just make everything about PO and it reveals who you are. It shows that you are not about constructive criticism like you claimed rather you belong to the obsessed gang.

Next thing you will call me Igbo or IPOB.
I have no time for your type.

You are correct.

Yekini was quite wealthy, right up to the time he died. Apart from the places you mentioned, he is reported to have also owned houses in Offa and Ilorin, among others. He was also very generous and helped a lot of people.

He was said to have started suffering from depression after some people close to him duped him. Nonetheless, he was not poor at all, even up to the point of his death.

Well said, I even forgot mentioning he was very generous from reports we heard from those closed to where he lived. It's sad he was duped by those he trusted which led to his depression and eventual death.
May his soul keep resting in peace

And you expect people to be patriotic?
This is mega endorsement for Advance Japa.
This country is a Killer in all ramifications.
There should be a law that everything and anything that has to do with any compensation must/shall be fulfilled within 30 days of the close of such tournament.
All payment due.
All vows and promises
All external vow and promises must come in with 2 weeks of the event close.

Rashidi Yekini's challenge wasn't money—he had plenty of it. As a matter of fact,he was giving out money and other valuable materials like hell! Rashidi suffered a great depression which was triggered by a mysterious ailment. Go and read Segun Odegbami's interview— Rashidi Yekini wasn't broke even while he was sick.

May his soul rest in peace.
