Man Pays ₦45 Million For Car, Disappears For 2 Years — Car Dealer Left In Limbo by lagostrendboy(op): 7:24am On Jun 26, 2025
A Nigerian car dealer has taken to social media to raise alarm over a bizarre case of sudden disappearance, after a client who paid ₦45 million for a vehicle in 2023 mysteriously vanished — and has remained unreachable for over two years. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @maziechidiime, CEO of Echidiime Motors Limited, who said the client was discovered via TikTok — but has since gone off the grid, with even his TikTok account permanently deleted.
💸 “He Paid, Then Vanished”

In the viral post, the dealer explained:

A client paid for a vehicle worth ₦45 million and ghosted us since 2023. We’ve tried calling, texting, and reaching out to his bank—but nothing. His TikTok account has been deleted too.

Efforts to trace him through the bank account used for payment hit a brick wall, with the bank allegedly refusing to release helpful information. The only clue left? The man may be an orphan — and possibly unreachable.
💭 Did Something Happen to Him?

The mysterious case has sparked massive online speculation:

Did the buyer pass away?

Could he be in jail or trapped abroad?

Was this some form of money laundering or advance trust test gone wrong?

💬 Social Media Reactions Pour In

The story has drawn a wave of advice and hot takes online:

@Mr_DaveChigozie: “I hope he didn’t die. That would explain the silence.”

@MaxwellAni4: “Use the money for business but keep it in trust. Someday, he may resurface.”

@ChizobaCynthia_: “Post his picture online saying he’s a long-lost friend. Don’t mention the car or money.”

@Emirate_Wealth: “Fix the money in a savings account and wait. It’s too unusual to spend.”

🧠 What Should the Dealer Do?

This rare case raises legal and ethical questions:

Can the dealer use the money?

Should it be held in trust indefinitely?

What if the buyer comes back demanding a refund or a new car at current market value?

Some financial experts online have advised putting the funds in a fixed deposit account, allowing it to accrue interest while buying time.
🔍 Final Thoughts from Eyes of Lagos:

A man pays ₦45 million, ghosts, and deletes all contact? Whether this is a strange twist of fate or a hidden plot, one thing is clear: trust in digital business is now more complex than ever.

This story is a reminder that social media deals, no matter how promising, require real-world safeguards. And sometimes… even a confirmed payment isn’t the end of the story.

Don't us your hand to invite trouble to your business Mr man. There are options to keep you and your business safe. Social media should not have come into it unless you are looking for content. With your level in business you should have a trusted lawyer and a police friend that should advise you better. Nwanna be guided.

It might be a kidnapper/bandit. They search car dealer online to stay anonymous. Ask victim to transfer money to car dealer account and confirm it before you have it police tracks the bandit to their hideout. Bandit dies

Thank you for these wise words Jamanze. It's not everything you bring to the market square. Even if he's looking for content, it's an empty content and I would not do business with this kind of basket mouth.

I don’t know some people’s problem with social media. They just do everything to invite problems into their lives.

Sometging you would just get a lawyer to advise on and document then you kept quiet, instead cho cho cho now half of it the world knows; now you are the target for the wicked devices of some people’s heart.

Before you know it, different authorities will start getting involved. Some people just can't keep quiet. I'm honestly tired of how things are in Nigeria must everyone always show off their wealth?

This post of his is the main reason I'll do business with him. Trust has been expressed, openly.

It's like saying, "Since VDM loves to talk and address things openly, he'll be a bad politician. He's going to expose corruption."

This is just a sign that you love corruption or handling corruption offline.

Evil people fear publicity, but sincere hearts fear not.

Starting from today, 99% of his clients will be people with good source of income. The fraudsters will run and that's good.

You are wrong. Social media is a powerful tool. What he is doing now is good. He is safe now with this viral social media post.

Most of you don't know the power of internet technology, social media and even forums.

I met an Australian celebrity family through blogging on a foreign platform even when I have never stepped my foot outside Nigeria.

Not only that family, I also met a lot of influential people from different countries just through my online contents and few I later met in person, and some of these people played great role in my life.

Even during the early stage of my small business, I got a lot of big clients via the internet. If I mention some influential Nigerians and first class kings that patronized my business through the internet, you will scream.

That thing you posted on an internet platform thinking that it doesn't matter may end up being read by US President Donald Trump, so don't underrate internet media and social media, they are very powerful tools if used with wisdom
