Hello friend, I need your advice. Due to low sales, is it wise if I relocate from Enugu to Lagos to start up a business (electrical/electronic)? Am married with 2 kids. I'll be in the comment section. Thanks
Do you know anyone already there? Why not travel down and see things for yourself before thinking of relocating permanently? If you know your work well, and assimilate into the relevant associations, you should have no problems. But plan well and take it step by step.

Like someone once said, invest in Lagos at your own peril.

Lagos is lawless especially when it comes to anyone thats not Yoruba. Can you withstand the issues with agberos?

Can you withstand the tribal discrimination?

Those two things can cripple your business faster than any economic factor will. So, again, invest in Lagos at your own peril.
That serves you guys right.. Stay in your land and enjoy there.

enugu is a civil service town. lagos is a proper commercial hub. you will have far more opportunities in lagos . it is however better you start without your family as rent, transport etal cost a lot.

because there is always development in lagos, there is always demand for building and therefore electrical materials

yes lagos smells - you can always blot that out with the smell of money. those who came to smell can go back to their fresh smelling and dead towns - those who came to hustle - make your money and ignore it.

Invest in lagos, at your peril. Move to Aba, onitsha or even Port Harcourt.

I don tell you.

Why don’t you diversify your business to something that will sell in Enugu.

Enugu is calm, beautiful city and trustworthy people. It’s a slow and steady society where you are bound to have a better mental state, long life and the best of health.

Lagos won’t give you all those things you currently have. It is expensive, rowdy, polluted, unsecured, and filled with the most untrustworthy people on Earth.

Yes, it is financially buoyant, but do you want to trade your family’s sanity for that?

Think about it very well. I will suggest you go into something that will go with your environment, even if it’s starting small.
Enugu calm ke? with Monday sit at home? that has almost rendered Monday part of weekend. There are places he can stay in Lagos to live well with his family. As per rent mentioned by someone in the comment section, Enugu people are always complaining on the radio about it, in fact they lament and always pleading government to intervene. So I don't see any difference and in fact cost of living is still way cheaper in Lagos to Enugu. And since Lagos can sort your primary need for sustainable sales and possible expansion of business, I think you should go for it.

What aspects of this business have you taken online

What aspects of the business is still missing

What additional thing have you not added to your business

Enugu is among the tier two states in Nigeria ( only four places in tier one ), so you should be ok
If you can give the business more exposure

It won't be quick, but you will.be glad you did

Besides , you can still rake in Lagos clients if you know your salt well right from Enugu

The only place with so much fake people in Nigeria is Lagos
Even the very life they live is fake
With all the noise( you can hardly count more than 20 skyscrapers .

Always smelling like pit latrine
It's the shame of myopic minds scavenging for approvals and belongings

Stay where you are and grow
And you maybe looking at other places at the global level when you are done
Bro, you were making sense until the part I stroke off. Let's show some respect to Lagos.

OP, look into this advice, and make good use of it as much as you can. I'm conversant with the two states in question, and I can tell you that even with the market being in lagos, other aspect of your life/family/health/finance will be sacrificed for it. Rather, continue your exploits in Enugu, a much calmer environment and explore the lagos market digitally.

Thanks.

Quit the wailing, bro. This tired and empty rhetoric has never stopped the progress of Lagos—and it won’t now. We understand your frustration with Lagos’ development.
Same old story you’ve been regurgitating since time immemorial, but Lagos has moved on and left you behind.

Let him go to Anambra that Peter Obi developed.

Enugu is not good for business at all, it's dull and money doesn't circulate well there.

Lagos is good. Has wider opportunities. Infact it's the Europe or America of Nigeria.

But Lagos is expensive relative to Enugu. You must develop the Lagos mentality to survive in Lagos. You can't use the Eastern Nigeria approach to business and survive in Lagos. I have both experience.

Once you settle in Lagos you will find it difficult to settle in other cities. I have lived in Lagos since 1977, I work in Aba now. I and my family find it difficult to relocate.

My advice: Hence you are coming in fresh with a family and weak financial backing. Lagos is no no for now.
Re: Planning To Relocate From Enugu To Lagos For Business by Figger(m): 4:02pm On Jun 27, 2025
Good advice, aba and Onitsha are almost at par with Lagos when it comes to economic viability, so it would be nice relocating to any of the two since both are in igboland, Lagos headache no be here oh

Just try and relocate to Onitsha or Aba or any other economic heart of Nigeria in the of South East.

Every insult you’ve hurled at Lagos has failed. Ironically, your own people can’t stop migrating there.
You’ve been chanting the same empty nonsense for years — yet Lagos keeps rising.
Cry all you want, you go dey alright oo.

Can someone point me to one single Yoruba man, who after completing his University Education or after learning a trade or craft, decided to relocate to iboland in search of a job or green pasture.

I have also never seen an educated Hausa Man, I don't mean Aboki Mai Suya or Mai Ruwa. I mean an Hausa man who graduated and then decided to relocate to iboland in search of a job.

It is only the ibos that keep running away from iboland. There must be something vile and terrible about iboland which makes all the able bodied men over there always want to run away from their region
grin don’t mind them, they know the truth, but they would turn around and tell you the east is developed a d economically viable and they are all coming to Lagos because of sea port and to come develop yorubaland that is miles ahead of their barren region😂😂😂

Was Calabar not also Federal Capital for a while?

It was Lagos Island from VI to Yaba that was federal capital. Today, Ikeja is more developed than your entire region.

Oil was first discovered in Oloibiri in 1956 whereas, Lagos already had an airport in 1947.

When Azikiwe entered Lagos, he couldn't believing his eyes.
Even Ojuku that claimed to be fighting for secession was marching to Lagos.
Is Lagos part of Biafra?

Let him remain in Igboland. Enough of ungrateful people coming to Lagos.

All the negative adjectives you’ve used against Lagos have never worked. Even now, many of your brothers and sisters are on their way there.
You keep repeating the same tired lines, but Lagos continues to develop and thrive.
You'll be alright, eventually.
