I don't know about the rich home back in 80s and 90s cus I was from a poor home, but I disagree with you on mannerless and poor homes who grabs meat before eating. That's a lie. Majority of our peer groups who are also poor also eat meat last after the food finish. That's how we were taught. Sometimes it's only one meat for three siblings to share so how dare you want to touch the meat when others haven't finished eating.

I believe there's a cultural angle to it... Growing up, my cousins, whether richer or less privileged than I was, were All eating their meat/ fish last.
