[quote author=Broveens42 post=135904219]This is a special appeal to the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma:

Sir, I'm appealing to your good conscience, to stop open grazing in the city of owerri.
One may wonder what informs the decision of herders and their cows, to roam in the most beautiful capital city in Nigeria.

I appreciate your conscientious efforts in developing all zones in Imo State, but you must not lose focus, by paying lip service to the activities of this herders in owerri (the mirror image of Imo).
Constitutionally, the law permits freedom of persons from one point to another, but must not be done in a manner, as to cause injury, pain or loss to persons occupying a particular geographical space.

Finally, as an indigenous Son of Imo State, it is my desire Imo remains a holiday destination and center of economic prosperity.
For the records. I beg your pardon. That is not the most beautiful capital town in Nigeria. Owerri is not close to UYO or Calabar or PH. Stop misleading people who are not in Nigeria. Thank you .
I hope with this few corrections of mine I have been able to draw your consciousness to the error you stated regarding the most beautiful capital .

So for your info once again. Owerei is not the most beautiful capital in south eastern Nigeria. Talk less of the entire Nigeria. UYO, Calabar far beats Owerei.

Fulani and Igbos are one...
. Majority of IGBO elites like Azikwe and Ojukwu were raised in the north.

What is wrong with that? Not all Fulani people are wicked. If you’re fortunate enough to meet the kind ones, they might even gift you fresh milk as a gesture of goodwill.

The real issue lies in our tendency to stereotype all Fulani as evil because of the atrocities committed by a few, and this generalization is not only unfair but also ignore the peaceful coexistence of Fulani communities in other parts of West and Central Africa.

Do you know that Fulani constitute a significant population in countries like Senegal, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, Gabon, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and Mauritania? Yet, you rarely hear about ethnic conflicts involving them in these regions.

The Fulani problem appears to be peculiar to Nigeria, and this raises an important question Why is Nigeria different The root of the crisis is due to two major issues:

1. Cattle Rustling in Northern Nigeria In states like Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, and Kebbi, the conflict began with Hausa cattle rustlers targeting Fulani herdsmen. This led to a cycle of retaliation, with the Fulani pursuing vengeance against not only the rustlers but also entire communities.

2. Farmers Herders Clashes in Central and Eastern Nigeria. For instance, In Benue, Taraba, and parts of Eastern Nigeria, the problem is different. Here, Fulani cattle often destroy farmers crops, leading to confrontations. When farmers retaliate by harming the cattle or even the herders the Fulani respond with brutal force and aspect of the Fulani is their long memory for grievances; they do not forgive easily and will retaliate no matter how much time has passed.

Sometimes, the locals may have even forgotten the initial offense, but the Fulani will return to settle the score.

I was also told that in the past, if Fulani cattle damaged a farmer’s crops, the victim could report the issue to the Fulani leader Ardo who would ensure fair compensation. This has helped maintain peace before things escalated into the violence we see today.

True, some Fulani groups have indeed been involved in violent acts, but it is important to avoid blanket judgments.

I think knowing the causes rather than outright condemnation of the entire Fulani ethic group is the first step toward finding lasting solutions to the crisis between the locals and Fulanis in some parts of the country.
Lol don't be naive. This is how it started in Benue a long time ago. This is 21st century. Ask yourself why the owners of these cows cannot buy land, build a ranch and pay tax to government?

Anyway keep writing sweet grammar. You will find out few years from now

Someone is sleeping in bed, and a group of heavily armed murderers gun them down and burn down their and their homes as well as their food stores: THAT IS NOT A CLASH. THAT IS COLD BLOODED MURDER.

Hiding behind tears ..??

Seems you take SE as the headquarters of cowards.

Enjoy your delusions...it's your Right.

When e set..come and rant on the streets...

Nonsense cool

AdolfHitlerxXx:
Stop hiding behind tears.

Owerri is conquered territory like Enugu.

The men hide pathetically under the bed every Monday so no big deal

See talk.

You think SE is not protein reliant? Why do you think that we must all congregate and eat the molested cow meat?

I remember vividly when the same Fulani mandated that COW meat shouldn't be sent down south. The region that was busy crying about MEAT was the SW.

Please understand something....

In the SE we have ..

Goats..local breeds
Rams....local breeds
Cows ...local breeds
Pig meat.... deliciously nourishing
Bushmeat..... plentiful
Fish... plentiful
Poultry... plentiful..both local and foreign species

Stop lumping the SE with whatever region you come from.

Your need for COW meat doesn't represent other regions.

Clear!!!
Story for Amadioha.

The West is only Lagos na. Abi you still believe that all your abandoned villages in the SW haven't been overwhelmed by same Fulani?

Dey play grin
You don't get the message. I am not saying Fulani are not troubling the West. But my point is there are some of your guys on NL who use to say it can't happen in the East before.
Their eyes Don clear now say na the problem of the whole nation.

I often wonder what’s gonna happen the day southerners will take herd of goats and be roaming around the major cities in Fulani land.
Re: Cows Stroll Around Streets Of Owerri: Pictures by esnbrutality: 7:22pm On Jun 27, 2025
The narrative was induced by your people from the SW who supported BUHARI and TINUBUs agenda against the SE. The Fulani herdsmen menace necessitated the formation of the Eastern Security Network, which your region used vile propaganda to cast as an evil contraption.

ESN still exists and they are actively doing what is required. As regards this movement within IMO state cities. If ESN strikes now, same people from your region will be shouting themselves hoarse. Becoming advocates for their Northern masters because of being politically correct.

Is this assertion a LIE?

Even the Fulani know that without backing of federal agencies (compromised by the way). They will be terminated without pity.

Even as you read this.. something is being done about this.

Just paddle your canoe and let the SE keep causing nightmares for the Fulani Masters that your leaders adore because of political relevance.

Thank you

Even your brothers in OSHA dare not complain while selling their cows alongside Pork meat in the SE. Pork meat is a delicacy in the SE..and it's a better substitute for beef from molested cows

We own the market and no Seriki can tell us what to sell in our markets cool

You are very wrong. What is Farmers Herders clash? Pls let's stop garnishing it to look like clash when Fulani's invade our territories. It is an invasion and not clash

The problem i have with these cows walking on major roads is the potential insecurity it poses.

Several times while driving and these herds of cows are about crossing the road, one would have to stop and wait for them to cross.

Now imagine if these cows were hijacked and then the actors rob or kidnap.

Open grazing is a menace. Cows smelly dungs are littered everywhere once they pass.....I don't understand why the governor is so silent on matters concerning northerners.....it might come to a head soon.
It's not only in Imo state. They are everywhere. We have them in Portharcourt. It worries me but what can one do?

The owners of these cows are the locals. Just that they hire herdsmen to take care of the cows. The best way forward is ranching. If you want to go into the business, rent or buy your own forest or grassland where the animals can be pastured
We don't care if it belongs to Hope Uzodinma, we don't want cow roaming around Owerri town

Shameful!
