Hello, i am confused i am a graduate with a bachelor degree in engineering, i resigned my peanut engineering paying job so i can get into
business, specifically phone repair business (flashing + unlocking phones) and maybe sell phone as well, only for me to get a job offer of working for an oil drilling company with a 200k salary, the job has no employment letter or company ID card and it's a 3week on 1week off job.

I started having double thoughts, from my experience most salary jobs in Nigeria are rubbish and I've read so many bad things about oil drilling jobs but at the same time businesses do fold up and sometimes it feels like flashing phones for a living is not a lucrative business, it feel kind of unserious.

I am just confused, don't know what to do at this point. Please i need advice

You in Engineering and having a drilling experience is a big booster for your CV.

But the shocking truth is that no drilling company pay as low as 200k, even their roustabout. Secondly you won’t be given ID card, big red flag. Seems you are being hired to be a cleaner in the company.

The company ought to have sent official offer letter and prepared a work ID for you. I'd believe the company offers drilling services to clients and maybe it's a start-up.
Before you take a final decision, Request for the offer letter. If after you made the request and they refused, then don't resume. But if you're given the letter, accept it.
Yes, the salary is not much, but you can leverage the experience to get a better offer after sometime....

No, i know the person who has the contract, it's not a cleaner position, it's a pure engineering job and that's the salary, some workers are collecting 150k set. My fear with drilling jobs is that it's mostly contract based, once the oil well is drilled, everyone goes home.

Take it bro... That experience will give you an edge to land another role in the oil and gas sector.... Whenever you go to the field, try as my much as possible to build connections with other engineers.

But the contractor is supposed to give you an engagement letter though.

They can easily make up to 500k per month, and I'll get into phone sales in no time while repairing

Depends on the position. But it doesn't look well with that rotation. But every experience counts. If your below 28yrs take it, make connections and get desired certificates you need to get a good pay in the industry. You will thank your self in your mid 30s

My guy, take the oil drilling job n save up after which it helps boost ur future jobs.. and whose says you can’t have a phone repair business after the contract ends?… you can even get a job that pays upwards 500k just from that oil drilling experience whilst u have a business of phone repairs and sales…

How many months will this contract be for??
In six months of working, start ur business find one young boy train…. He will b in the shop while u are away. Till the week you will b back at work…
All u need is a trustworthy apprentice wey u go train… and e go know where u Dey go buy phone parts.

You can use that free 1week in every month to go for the phone repair training, based on agreement with the trainer.
