aribisala0:🤣🤣 You are actually the ignorant one here! As at the time, your paymaster Tinubu built his glamorous IPP, electricity law was under the exclusive list! In other words, there was already an existing law in the 1999 constitution that stopped states from generating, transmitting and distributing electricity! What was obtainable as at the time Tinubu build the independent plant was a national grid controlled by the FG! Tinubu was governor from 1999-2007 in case you have forgot! This act was later amended in 2023 when former president Buhari signed the electricity bill to an act making states to have the authority to generate, transmit and distribute electricity to their domain! It was this new act by the former president that enabled abia state to start generating, transmitting and distributing to the abia residents using the gas turbine that the former president GEJ had built and commissioned during his regime! Before that, the abia state turbine was connected to the national grid not to the abia residents! These days, there is no point arguing when there are available mediums to verify such! |

Tinubu and Ameachi as governors wanted to generate electricity then but due to this obstacle it didn't materialise. Each state through its governors should now put on their thinking caps(sorry to say majority dont have that) and align and invest in infrastructure for power generation and distribution either hydro, solar etc that works for their individual state. As a governor this is the time to invest, create opportunities for electricity in your state. Sadly most governors as very lazy and dont want to work. Look at the north with natural sunlight that can be used for solar electricity instead they wear agbada up and down waiting for OIL money to chop... |

bentenny:Buhari signed the amended bill but Tinubu has now signed into law the actual bill to finally allow states 100% control. Now the last step is for the states to actually pass the state laws governing transmission, Generation and distribution. This is what the governmt should have done since 1960. Gradually, Nigeria is getting it right in terms of stable electricity |

God bless Nigeria. Nigerian states now have the authority to oversee electricity generation, transmission, and distribution within their jurisdictions. This is a good development. Wahala for lazy governors |

So long as electricity is easily stolen, no investor will see a single kobo as ROI. They'd be lucky if they break even. |

| Re: Tinubu Signs Bill Granting States Full Control Over Electricity by bentenny(m): 3:22pm On Jun 28, 2025 |
otherway:What you just implied is that what Tinubu signed into law is no different from what Buhari did in 2023 where the amended act gave states the authority or licence to generate, transmit and distribute electricity! This is simply a duplicated electricity act and an attempt to take the shine or credit from Buhari! Tinubu should concentrate on state policing, resource control, electoral reforms....

AI OverviewSo why did Tinubu need to sign the same electricity act twice? Is he trying to take credit for what Buhari had already done? |

bentenny:You are bitter and hateful You need sides to have meaning in your life Tinubu is not my paymaster If He was I would be proud. My record on this forum show where I stand on him This issue is for me not about Tinubu just facts Tinubu did not build an independent plant That is why I asked you to inform yourself Stop making noise Enron was operating At the same location where the NEPA plant in Egbin was . There was no way they could have done that without Federal government consent Stop making noise go and find out what actually happened It was generating power alongside NEPA and that was going to the National grid. Under the rules at the time that was Okay ENRON WAS GENERATING 270 Megawatts of Power IN EGBIN Repeat Egbin. why is that important. It was INSIDE A NEPA PLANT Tinubu then tried to persuade Obasanjo to take it to the next level with legislation which had actually been informally agreed by that time they had fallen out and it could not happen Enron was also involved in a scandal and had financial difficulties So my point in summary is when Tinubu was governor he had articulated this vision and taken steps That was in response to Elusive001:No even when he was governor he had always been aligned in that direction |

I want to get something across BAT supporters, during the elections I was rooting for PO and PDP , Peter Obi for he’s integrity, honesty, and the great way he transformed Anambra from what it was. And the PDP, just to remove the nonchalant Bubu. How the elections was conducted and the final vote made me realised that we are entering from frying to fire. I know I’m not alone on this but majority of the people supporting PO are in support because he is the least corrupt (that we know of) and transparent of the contestants, I want to say the most of us base our decision making on that. Look, we all want to see Nigeria progress and prosper in our lifetime, we want the best for our future generations with the thought that we left positive foot prints in our duty as humans to keep our legacy going. I’m saying all this to simply say it’s never too late for BAT to do the right thing and steer us in the right path so he will be remembered positively post life, nobody will live forever. Yesterday we were shouting Y2K already it’s been 25yrs, life is a fleeting thing, we just have to live right and do what is just now more than ever. |

lot14:It did Materialize in Lagos they were generating 270 with Enron What they discovered was they could not keep the electricity in Lagos state. It had to go to the National Grid So generation was not the issue it was transmission and the power to OWN what you generate |

Th epresident is a criminal and very corrupt, but this one, it is the only good move he has made so far that will impact Nigerians positively. I need to study the bill to ensure he has no corrupt agenda behind it. It is possible if you look in there will be a clause that will mandate the states to only choose from a certain pool of contractors, I don't trust this man at all. Either he is clueless, or his criminal-mindedness has kept him immune to the cry of dying Nigerians. |

aribisala0:This was a response a replied...hope you remember? When Tinubu was governor he tried to generate power in Lagos state. He brought in a company called ENRON and Obasanjo did everything to frustrate it.This was my response... Why would Tinubu do an independent power system knowing fully well that there was an existing law stopping him from providing power to his citizens then?[/b]Now this was now your ignorant response showing you actually have no idea what you are saying ... There was no law stopping him doing what he did so researchIf there was no law stopping Tinubu, why was he unable to generate, transmit and distribute to Lagos residents? Your final response... Tinubu then tried to persuade Obasanjo to take it to the next level with legislation which had actually been informally agreed by that time they had fallen out and it could not happenWhy should Tinubu persuade Obasanjo to take the next level of legislation? Was Obasanjo a senator or represented the legislative arm of government?😃 Nairaland sef After all the prevarication, you just admitted that it wasn't the job of Obasanjo to alter the electricity act but the legislative arm of government! Finally,it's not hard to know a die hard apc supporter! |

bentenny:You are trying to confuse people The only thing Tinubu did was Generate via Enron Enron generated 270 MW There was no law stopping him and he did that This happened at the Egbin Thermal plant in Lagos It was NOT INDEPENDENT The electricity went to the National Grid That is where Tinubu's plan fell apart he wanted to to keep the electricity in Lagos State and he could not The electricity was shared by the FG So what exactly is your point You argue that He is overwhelmed and trying to pass electricity to the states But that is not true you are even contradicting yourself with Buharis's legislation If this has been in the works under Buhari how does that square with your argument that THE THING PASS AM You are just bitter and spiteful Let me explain what happened at Egbin There are gas pipelines fron the Niger Delta that end at Egbin which is the biggest plant in Nigeria Enron was brought there with the consent of the FG They brought in their turbines and connected to the same gas to generate 270 Megawatts. This happened in short time. 270 Megawatts is no joke Kainji is 750. You have nothing sensible to say |

Good. Now states can develop at their own pace. Dapo Abiodun spent billions of Naira to build an airport which is surely an exercise in futility. If he had spent all that money on electricity the state would have been better for it, being heavily industrialised. |
| Re: Tinubu Signs Bill Granting States Full Control Over Electricity by IkePeters(m): 4:03pm On Jun 28, 2025 |
Welcome development. The electricity value chain of Generation, Transmission and Distribution should be decentralised. So much burden on the National Grid. Next stop should be Resource Control And then Restructuring and True Federalism would bring out the best in each Region |
