you really spoke my mind same should happen to security, most state governors behave like LGA chairman
You can't blame them, most Nigerians are ignorant, they don't understand federal structure, they don't understand the principles of this democratic federal system.

Ignorance is bad, they all focus on the president and give their governors enough space to plunder them.

I am glad you understand the subject. I assure you that the bill Tinubu signed didn't stop state governors from giving their people power through the sources you itemized.

The truth is, investing in power is capital intensive. If Tinubu genuinely wants these governors to start supplying power to their power, he would set up counterpart funding schemes for that purpose. Unfortunately, the man is more interested in a coastal road shredded in fraud than investing in power.

So, ping this moniker the day a governor starts generating, transmitting and distributing power to its people using any of the sources you mentioned above.

Once again, I am glad to meet someone who understands the subject, not people who jubilate at every news without giving it a second thought.
The real unfortunate thing is that we are jubilating over what ought to have started many years ago cos just as you opined, it may take several years before most states actually actualize this.

So the thing don pass am and he pushed it to the governors. Next one will be security. He will still push security to governors too.

So he actually never had any single solution for power all these while.

The same for fashola.

I remember them insulting GEJ and OBJ.

grin grin grin grin
so you want o e minister to tackle the problem of over 200million people with a very big land mass? This is the best way to solve issue, let the governors take charge.
Even security shouldn't be left in the hands of FG alone, state, Local gocernment and community must be involved.

These two bills (electricity and tax) will transform Nigeria in the short term:
1. The state can now compete to increase its internally generated revenue (IGR).
2. Electricity infrastructure will create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
3. This is where states with advantageous infrastructure will be more attractive to businesses, it is now left for the governors to identify and fix their lapses.
4. We can now identify governors who truly care about their states.
5. Those who destroy goods and services in the name of their faith will no longer benefit from the revenue generated from same goods they destroyed.
Nigeria is getting serious day by day!

Police is next, followed by full control over state resources.

Make every state make itself useful.

All those states that are sponsoring terrorism, just so they could distabilize the nation, should make revenue from such act.

No sir,

Buhari SIGNED THE AMENDED CONSTITUTION meaning he accented that the constitution should be amended.

Now Tinubu has actually signed the bill (not constitution) to allow state do the task.

Now the state will now individually sign their own bill on how to go about it.
Sir you are confusing yourself with the use of legislative terms!
Buhari signed the amended electricity law!

In other words, electricity was under the control of the FG through the national grid!
After the law was amended in 2023 through the signing of Buhari, the control is now UNDER the authority of the states!

If you say Tinubu signed a bill into law...what is the name of the bill?
If it's electricity bill, then that has already been signed by Buhari in 2023 and any other electricity bill that is identical to what was sign by Buhari is tantamount to repetition which I believe is Tinubu trying to take credit for what Buhari did!

What will the federal government be doing with its lion share of oil revenues aa it leaves states to use their paltry allocations to provide electricity infrastructures?
Only a mad man keeps doing things the same way and expects a different result. Why hasnt no Govt achieved any substantial success with Power the Old way. Na someone is coming with a Fresh idea and you are criticising him. Nah wah o for some Nigerians.

it is not about ignorance alone... it is about hate towards the pr:esident and the tribe he is from.

and to you this is not about Nigerians... it is about 1gbos and their attitude towards non-1gb0s especially Yoruba people, the 1gb0s will never call out their own tribe's governors, senators and politicians.

don't blame and generalize all Nigerians for something that a tribe in Nigeria is guilty of..

you spoke well, nigerians out of hate dont think when right decision is made they behave like the american democrats who out of hate even if trump does the right thing his criticized. am not supporter of who is the president but if the right move is made or if we need try a new method it should be highly welcome.

Good development, 0ne Good thing this wey I don't see this government do, there may be others o, I never see, it is now I can join people saying hold your governor, before there was not much to hold the governors for, but because of the transformative nature of electricity, it is very essential that governors take advantage of this very opportunity
You don't see that there's much to hold governors responsible for because you don't know how federalism and governance works.

They are ignorant, remember federal structure is taught in government in secondary school, some of them are dullards, they can't even educate themselves. They totally ignore the vast resources and powers at the disposal of their governors. This ignorance affects them negatively, but their governors are laughing to the bank, some of them are paid political sycophants though...

It is gradual process, soon the states will receive more I think even the tax bill address some aspects of it. Also the remover of subsidy and floating of the naira has been pumping more money to the governors hence they are romancing tinubu.

States taking charge of electricity is long overdue as it will be easy to manage. Previously you have to pool whatever you generate to the central and you are not even sure of getting back half of what you generate.
Re: Tinubu Signs Bill Granting States Full Control Over Electricity by Slytiger: 7:55pm On Jun 28, 2025
As it should be. States in the US and provinces in Canada handle their own electric power. Hence names like Florida Light and Power, Manitoba Hydro e.t.c

it's the version of tribalism they practice..

a real tribalist will want what's best for his people and will call out their own governors..

a supremacist tribalist will ignore the shortcomings of his own governors and call out and talk down and hate on another tribe governors. they have superior complex over other tribes.

he needs to focus on building infrastructures, renovating hospitals, renovating schools, upgrading federal roads that are going bad not scrutinizing the books of states that already hate him.

let the people of those states hold protest to EF:Cc office and tell them to scrutinize their states books..

Just like the way you were quasi with comment, the law has given the state to generate, transmission and license individual who shows interest in electricity business which the return is revenue

so what will the federal government be doing with its lion share of revenue gotten from monopolizing the resources found in the states? If any natural resources is found in any state, the federal government swoops in and monopolizes control, so where are the federating units to get their revenue from?

Is power supplied free to consumers? This is an opportunity for States to develop at their own pace. Good legislation, let's see how States will utilize the new opportunity.

States should be able to generate electricity for their states but relying on that rusted Kainji dam is suicide...
Go to other African countries and see what they generate for their citizens, one of the African country even shot off some power plants because of too much light meanwhile Nigeria we are still struggling with power supply due to corruption
