This might offend some people but I’ll still say it: iPhones are not for everyone. I’ve used both iPhones and Androids and as much as I respect the clean UI and camera of iPhones not everyone needs a phone that costs as much as rent in Lagos 😭. Some of us just want a phone that: •Won’t die before 3pm •Charges fast •Has decent camera for weekend pictures •Doesn’t freeze mid-Zoom call •Doesn’t make us check our account balance before buying data 😩 I used to think I needed an iPhone until I realized I was basically using a ₦900k phone to scroll Twitter, snap food pics and watch Instagram skits that my Android could’ve shown me the same way 😭. I switched to a realme phone a few months ago and I won’t lie, I had my reservations. I mean, the name alone feels like something you'd see on the back of a power bank 😭 but omo… this phone has been doing the most. ✅ Battery that actually lasts (I charge once a day now) ✅ No unnecessary heat even during long calls ✅ Camera quality? Surprisingly solid. ✅ Smooth UI... No glitchy wahala or clutter It’s not perfect sha. The name still doesn’t sit well with me and people still look at me somehow when I say it but if we’re talking value for money, I’m not sure anything else comes close right now. So let's argue: -Do you need an iPhone or is it just vibes and pressure? -What brand are you using that actually shocked you (in a good way)? -And why do we look down on phones with “unpopular” names?

My guy, you've said it all, iPhone is a luxury and meant for those who can afford it. There are cheaper options in android that can still deliver what most people need from a phone at a relatively cheaper price. My take is that most people that buy iPhone, buys it to show that they belong to a class |

Facts and facts bro Most of us young people need to understand that we don't need some things, just because we have the money to buy them doesn't mean we should get them, especially when it comes to things that don't last too long like technology. Unless you're wealthy enough to buy that thing twice without batting an eyelash or your work requires you having the best technological features currently available to have an edge over your competitors. |

I use an iPhone 15 currently. I have been in the iPhone ecosystem since the days of iPhone 5s, only skipping the 8 for an X. I don’t use iPhone for luxury. I use it because of the smooth UI and fluidity. I hate that apple lock down their phones so much. I am currently using trollstore on iOS 17.0 to sideload apps and tweak my phone to my desire. Hence why I’ll die with this iPhone 15, or if another jailbreak or tweak comes out for these new iPhones. I love Samsung, pixel and the Redmi turbo device I saw one time on this website and I’ll argue that these are better phones than the iPhone. But In the end I still come back to iOS because of that fluidity. It’s just missing on android social apps. I really wish android will try this to perfection so it will be, bye bye iPhones for me, but I know it has to do with developers optimizing their apps, and swift integration is what will give you this, which iOS uses. |

Personally, phones are a necessity for me, whether an iPhone or android. For this reason only, I can use iPhone and sell it off the moment it no longer serves me or offer values relating to my work. Same thing goes for any android so I agree with most of your points but I guess everyone has his/her reasons and I won't fault them |

I m not even a fan of iPhone. It's not about affordability for me. I prefer Samsung anytime, any day. |

PREACH! That 'costs as much as rent in Lagos' hit home for real! It's so true how much we overspend for features we barely use. Your realme experience sounds like pure value for money, glad it's doing well for you. #NoCap |

Sir, at this time and age, I think value for money should be the most priority. Having said this, I'm dishing my Samsung 'not flagship' for Tecno camon 40 pro. Ire oo Desewa08: |

Let’s be honest, a lot of people in this part of the world purchase phones either for the camera quality or as status symbols. Imagine having a mini computer in your hands iPhone/android and using it only for calls, socials and camera. I know you were trying to start a problematic discussion, here is my submission for that; Unrestricted internet access is not for everyone. ![]() |

Honestly, I agree. The hype around iPhones is mad, but they’re not the most practical choice for everyone. These Android brands are stepping up too. I saw that new realme C75x recently, and the specs are actually solid for the price. |

Exceed15:yeah I agree with you and the fact that most iPhones gets overheated when used is a no no for me |

Allsmilez999:most people get iPhone for the hype honestly in as much as it has it's errors. |

Before i buy a phone...i look out for the basic things i need in the phone, Most andriod phones this days come with 5000mah..So battery isnt a problem for me...Features like i. AMOLED or super Amoled display ii. RAM ( Minimum 8g) Ii CAMERA atleast 50Mp/selfie 30mp Ii. Software update upto 5yrs Ii. If the phone heats up when using. Ii Water/dust resistant level atleast: IP67 And most especially an affordable price. This is basically what i always look out in a phone in the last 3 years. Not because Mr A buy I also want to buy, that is the story of most iphone users. |

The problem with people is they worry about what people think |

Stop consoling and deceiving yarselfs, iphone is a brand and class on it's own, the number one that has always been in competition with Samsung since time 1900. Apple brand itself is a whole lot There are lots of apple fans worldwide. Apple is very solid brand and OS on its own. Those that knows, knows They didn't beg anyone to over hype or overate them, it's a Nigerian culture thing. Americans use iphones like everyday normal stuffs, it's only in Nigeria that everything dey different. Same thing with having a car. |

iPhone is a status symbol. Plain and simple. Androids can do everything and more for a lesser price. Also every year you don't need to start rushing to upgrade and buy the latest iPhone umpteenth. |

Starprogress:I feel iPhones are unnecessarily expensive. Atp, I feel it's only the name they carry and their camera. The value for that expensive amount, I'm still not seeing it. |

I hear some people say expensive gadget and toys helps secure good deal...I love Iphone mainly because of the speed, but I don't see myself changing this Xs Max unless it stopped working, I've had it since 2021... Android is a necessity, I have honor 9N which I use to install modded apps I can't use with Iphone... |

Its just the simple truth of today, it doesn't quite suit some people everyday work outdoor lifestyle like rugged devices of the likes of realme and Tecno and infinix, especially the realme C75 and C75x with ip69 ratings Desewa08: |
