Skepta (Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr) is a UK-based Nigerian grime artiste who was born in London.

The Glastonbury Festival (shortened to Glasto) is a famous music festival that is held in the UK. Nigerian artistes like Fela Anikulapo-Kuti have performed at the festival.

Skepta perforned at the festival recently and posted a photo of his performance. This led to the following exchange.

Some Nigerians have proudly reiterated that he is Nigerian.

Some British people have also said that he has a right to choose where he is from.

Some Nigerians have also said that the only reason that he is proud of Nigeria is because he does not live in Nigeria.

Others have referenced a line from his 2017 hit, Hypycrisy.

I think the British guy was upset, thinking probably Skepta was bigging up the Palestinian flags and also the absence of anyone proud to be British.

Though everyone knows Skepta is a proud Yoruba boy, he should however be mature enough to realise that it does not make sense to distance himself from the country that made him who he is, and that's Britain, not Nigeria.
