Let’s be real for a second.

We grew up hearing it like a prayer:
“Money is not everything.”
“Money can’t buy happiness.”
“Don’t chase wealth, chase peace.”

Sounds nice, right? Peaceful. Moral. Spiritual.
But in 2025 Nigeria? Bro, that line is starting to feel like a scam.

Because if we’re being brutally honest…
Money may not be EVERYTHING, but without it, almost EVERYTHING else crumbles.

Let me break it down for you

1. Being Poor Ain’t Noble — It’s Painful

Forget all that “find beauty in the struggle” talk.
There’s nothing beautiful about begging your landlord, skipping meals, or praying NEPA brings light just to sleep without sweating.

Yes, you can love your partner without money. But can love buy drugs when she’s sick?
Can love pay school fees or fix a leaking roof?

Let’s not lie to ourselves — poverty is not a virtue. It’s a crisis.

2. Independence is Not Free

You want to be free? You need money.
Want to move out of your parents’ house? Money.
Rent? Money.
Mattress? Gas? Food? Electricity?
MONEY.

Even peace of mind now has a price tag.

3. Love Without Money is a Ticking Time Bomb

She may love your vibe, your dreams, your personality…
But when hunger enters the relationship? When bills start piling? When she sees other men giving her soft life?

Let’s not pretend.
Money might not buy love — but it definitely helps love survive.

4. Money Buys OPTIONS — and Options Are Everything

Does poverty enhance good health? Cos I don't understand all these buzz about good health being priceless.

We all agree that good health is priceless, but who is more susceptible to diseases and illnesses? The person who eats a balanced diet or the person who can barely afford 3 square meals? The person who goes for regular check-up or the person who depends on agbo and vibes to maintain their health? The person who lives in a fumigated and neat environment or the person who shares accomodation with mosquitoes, rats and all manner of vermins? The person who can easily afford their basic needs, or the person who always have to think and rack their brain before any basic need can be met?

If a poor man and a rich man are diagnosed with diabetes, who is likely to manage it better? If a rich man and poor man are diagnosed with cancer, who has a better chance at fighting for survival? -The Ojude Oba starboy comes to mind.

If a rich man and poor man have infertility issues, who is more likely to access cutting-edge IVF technology?

Who are the most susceptible to maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria (for example) - the rich or the poor?

Money is everything, including worshipping God.

Money can buy you health, happiness, life etc. When you have money worshipping God becomes so sweet as if you are already in paradise. Pastors, Imam, even Native Doctors and Dibias will come to your house to offer you prayers. You will be given special space when you go to their shrine or worship centers.

When Money is not everything is when those things that are bound to happen whether you have the money or not happens. In essence, even if you are poor, that same thing would still happen as in when you were rich too.

However, Money is not everything but aquiring lot of it is very very very very essential, Most especially in a diaplated nation like Nigeria which her citizens worship money.

In 21st century and in Nigeria, It is a Curse and Crime to be financially poor. Trust me!

In other African (developing) Climes, You can be financially poor and still live a quite decent life but in Nigeria, It is impossible.

Money isn't everything, even though, almost everything needs money. But you could have money and still be stupid.
