A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has expressed deep disappointment in the party’s current direction and declared its intention to join a new coalition aimed at rescuing Nigeria from the grip of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Other prominent figures at the Tuesday meeting in Abuja included former Senate President David Mark; former PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; and former governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Gabriel Suswam (Benue), and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi). Also present were ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs Chief Tom Ikimi, Senator Abdul Ningi, Celestine Omehia, Senator Ben Obi, former PDP National Women Leader Josephine Anenih, ex-National Organising Secretary Senator Austin Akobundu, former National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, and former National Youth Leader Abdullahi Maibasira, amongst others. While the group did not name the political platform on which the coalition would operate, news outlets report the African Democratic Congress (ADC) had been adopted and would be announced later Tuesday night. COMMUNIQUE OF THE MEETING OF CONCERNED LEADERS OF THE PDP HELD AT TRANSCORP HILTON HOTEL ABUJA ONThe Communique was read by a former President of the Senate, David Bonaventure Mark.

Still the same worms moving to another carcass. At the end whoever becomes president will still be controlled and not allowed to work for the people but to please those who put him there. If only we can get someone whose only backup are the people. Who wouldn’t give a damn about this worms but be ready to flush them out and put them where they belong. We are in for a long ride in this country May God help us and save Nigeria |

You need to read the history of American politics. Even at home here Buhari is a lesson. He cried on national TV and at the end,... Merger / coalition bailed him out. If he's destined to, nothing will stop him . Not with this nonperforming administration which is to their advantage |

The PDP has collapsed. What remains with Wike is merely a carcass, which he uses however he pleases. He may even shove it down his drunken throat, for all we care. He can zone the presidential ticket of that carcass to himself and run against his D-Lord. Nigerians are indifferent. We are moving forward to rescue this country from the grip of the notorious D-Lord, whose leadership has brought nothing but pain, anguish, hunger, and starvation since he took office. |

This coalition will end up helping the ruling party. Others will still spring up and divide the opposition even further. At the end of the day, it’s all just the last kick of a dying horse — futile and desperate. |
| Re: 2027: Why We Are Joining The Coalition - Concerned PDP Leaders by seunmsg(m): 8:20pm On Jul 01, 2025 |
Basically, only PDP members who are no longer relevant politically are joining Atiku in his dead coalition. Not even a single incumbent governor is going to ADC with him. As it stands, El-Rufai, Amaechi and Peter Obi may not even join the coalition. El-Rufai and Amaechi will float ADA while Peter will go solo again. |
