Hamas wants to swap the Israeli hostages for Palestinian hostages (many of which are children) that are held in Israeli prisons and detention centers. So, killing the hostages is not to Hamas benefit. Hamas wants to keep them alive because they're more valuable that way.

If anyone wants the hostages dead, then it is the Israeli military. It have killed more hostages than it has rescued.
