Obidients are in this mess because they actually convinced themselves Peter Obi was some kind of saint, like he wasn’t cut from the same dirty cloth as the rest of them.

There are two types of Obidients.

First, the delusional ones. These ones move like a cult. Say one bad thing about Obi and they’ll hunt you like you insulted their ancestor. If you’re spotted vibing with someone outside their echo chamber, they’ll label you a sellout. In their eyes, Obi is the Messiah, flawless and untouchable.

Then there’s the second group, the rational ones. Small in number, but they see things clearly. They know Obi isn’t any different from the usual suspects. Just another smooth-talking politician in native wear, playing the same rigged game.

@kingtom it's the ones in the first category that will be looking like fools now.

In a hypothetical

ADC Atiku-Obi vs Tinubu-Kwankwanso

How will it go?

I see the 6 NE and the 5 SE states going to ADC Atiku Obi

I see the SW minus Osun (Depending on how Adeleke matter is resolved) going to APC, Add Kwara, Rivers and Kano

The SS NC and NW being battle grounds
Tinubu is the frontrunner because one would expect him to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

However, that is a proper gladiatorial matchup.

It'll depend on the Northern plutocrats. If they are as pissed at Tinubu as the rumorville suggests, Tinubu is toast.
Atiku/Obi will snap or split the KKK, the SS, and the NC.

2027 is a vibe election.
You noticed how APC appeared to be coasting when it seemed like the coalition was a pipe dream.
There is pause now. Almost 2 years to go.
If by start of 2027, Atiku/Obi has the momentum, Tinubu will be in Bourdillon by 12 PM on election day.

Tinubu has the money and tactical nous to eke out a win regardless.
But it primarily is about the North. Is there really an urgency to return to the Rock?
If there isn't, then Kwankwaso in 2031 (if they can get the NE to accept another NW Presidency) will be a better phalanx of Northern interests than Atiku.

In a free and fair election, Atiku/Obi will prevail handily.
But 2027 will be neither free nor fair, so it's all about the chess moves in the background.

Lol. It’s the same thing Peter Obi said.

I think El-Rufai, Kwankwanso and other northern bigwigs (except Atiku) may actually root for either Obi or Amaechi to win the ticket, because it an 8-yr southern presidency would greatly assist them in making the case for geo-political power shift in 2031.

Atiku winning the ticket and the presidency in 2027 would invariable knock out the northerners in the ADC from contesting in 2031, and I don’t believe the likes of El-Rufai and Kwankwaso have the “patience” to wait another 8-12 years for a shot at the presidency.

Is Asiwaju intending to pull a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2027? I think that is a big factor, especially in the battle ground states you have listed. If so, then he should have stuck with Shettima. Outside Kano, I don't think Scambiu's influence trumps Atiku's in the North and right now, Asiwaju isn't popular in the core North.

Asiwaju is going to need all of the SW, he can't afford any slipups this time, otherwise it would be costly. Lagos is still a tossup and a battle ground (I'd admit Asiwaju has the advantage this time) and Osun for sure. Remember, this coalition isn't PDP where you had a breakaway group working against the party. If anything, PDP may cede their structures in some of the battle ground states.

The SS is particularly going to be tough battle ground and anything can happen.

Yes he is going to pull the Moslem-Moslem ticket, The reason is that there is no Northern Xtian with enough clout to win votes in the North

The APC people have seen that Shetimma does not wield that much power in the NE an was used to mop the floor last time by Atiku winning 5 of 6 states

They might just drop Shetimma for someone who makes them competitive in the NW. Rabiu whether you like him or North has the most populous Kano state on lockdown flogging both APC -Ganduje an Atiku there without any extra FG support, with FG support maybe he can spread his influence to more NW states

Tinubu cannot allow Atiku to enjoy the NW votes unchallenged since he will be losing the SE to the coalition as well

The SS is where the battle will be and Tinubus gambit will be that these places are no longer PDP, They do not have a stake in either side (Not ADC and not APC) so there will be voters apathy which means the State governors get to decide the winners.

The NC this time will be split equally the more Hausa parts like Niger and Nasarawa going with Atiku, while Kwara Kogi go with Tinubu
Plateau and Benue beef with Fulani(Atiku) or beef with Moslems(Tinubu) which one will be worse

Yes this is what I said

The interest groups in ADC, Atiku wants to be president as soon as yesterday. If Atiku miss 2027, it might be the end for him
Obi wants to to President immediately in 2027 cos if he miss 2027 next chance is 2039
Younger Northerners with a future like ElRufai want to position themselves for the next 4yrs to be a contestant. If Atiku wins then they wait for 16yrs, if Obi wins they wait for 8yrs

An Atiku-Obi ticket is a serious headache for the incumbent and my calculations is that given the type of person Tinubu is, He is not opposed to settling his way out of an impasse. Any state that looks close to 50-50, Tinubu can use his powers to move them to his side

The ones that are forgone conclusions are NE and SE. He would take his L there and go all out in the battlegrounds
