The US operate a Jury system

The Jury decide on whether you are guilty or not. NOT the Judge

Once the Jury find a person guilty

The Job of the Judge is to sentence him.


After the verdict in this case he was found guilty of some charges


If they were not serious charges the judge has discretiion to grant bail PENDING SENTENCE

That means he is granted bail and comes back to court ANOTHER DAY for SENTENCING

The judge would take into acoount
1. The seriousness of the charges he was actually found guilty of
2. How much time he likely will sentence him to
3. How much time he has spend on remand during the trial

Before making a decision about bail


I believe that he likely would be sentence to about 5 years
He has spend about 1 year in prison

So there is no point in giving him bail because he still will be going to prison

The implication of the Not guilty verdict for the more serious charges is that he escaped A LIFE SENTENCE

Getting a pardon in the US is quite rare. It is even rarer for Sexual offences
