Definition of illiterate: unable to read or write. I still don't know why the North always top this list despite the fact that majority of Northerners can read and write in Arabic language. This is a region that has a working system before the arrival of the colonial master. The very major problem with the insecurity in the North is lack of education and poverty. Let me narrow it down to a single point perspective called the mayhem of Fulani herdman. In solving this mayhem is the reason why Tinubu's government created the ministry of livestock separately. Moving cows from around the country in the name of Nomadic farming is outdated and not even productive. It takes an educated people to be ready to stop living in the past. Where does Nigeria stand in the global ranking when it comes to livestock exportation? Why then, the nuisance and instability that comes with this herdman ship? The ranching method is the best. Guess what, I have some friends from some African countries and Europe who live in Nigeria. These my friends have never eaten our own beef. When I asked them the reason why, they said they cows the see in Nigeria are only seen in their vertinaries. Our cows look so sick to care to have a taste of one. With time, the ministry will bring a solution to this outdated system of rearing cows through proper education and enlightenment. 31 Likes |

They actually don't learn how to read and write in Arabic. All they learn is how to memorise certain surahs of the koran. That was the reason why a full indepth study of the Arabic language was proposed in the Nomadic Schools which the Goodluck Jonathan administration wanted to introduce as a solution for childhood Illiteracy. The fact that you can't read,write or speak ENGLISH LANGUAGE doesn't mean you're an illiterate. The northerners are schooled in Islamic education as majority of them can read write and speak with it fluently. To me, they are not illiterate, they are abreast with local and world events as both local and international Media has Islamic coverage An old Hausa Muslim in the north that doesn't understand the English language is well informed about local and international happenings than an old Man or woman in the east 4 Likes 1 Share |
